From what I've been told they should have the full pan (sure hope so!). The sticker on the pan also seems to match the winged lid badge/thermo.

How many copies is this limited to? 500? 1000? 2000?
Or is it really unlimited, with everyone who wants one getting to obtain one? If this is the case, it will not be a "rare" collectable. At least not for many years.
And what is the cost?

And I'm still blown away...as to this being a true "Limited Edition" model, or is it really an unlimited model? Meaning Weber will mass produce as many of these as they can, satisfying the market demand so everyone who wants one can get one.
And what is the pricing going to be?

Personally, not interested. Already have 3 kettles and a smoker in the cooking rotation.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I saw the post on FB and said awesome then saw how they did the badges and thought ehh no thanks.

I feel like if you're going to do a 70th anniversary this was not the right approach. Do something truly unique like some flat top 26ers in a range of colors or something.

What they did feels a lot like what Harley did on their 100th anniversary models:

I love the badge, anyone who doesn't want theirs shoot me a PM.

I'm personally blown away by the lack of patience some people are showing over lack of information.  These images were leaks, the first pictures (the ones removed) were removed from FB groups at the direct request of Weber.  No official announcement has been made, and rest assured when it IS made, all of your questions will be answered.

In terms of lack of red...they tried that with the LE a couple of years ago and got huge blowback for quality control and the fact that they had to be enameled in China because of US regulations on the red dye.  They're not going down that path again anytime soon.

That's all fine and dandy, but at what cost, and is this truly a limited production run of XXXX number of sales?
My guess is Weber will mass market these, so everyone who wants one will get one. That is not a collectable.

Wow. Asking the same questions about a product you're "personally not interested in" whose pictures shouldn't have seen the light of day and no one is even supposed to know about isn't going to get them answered any faster.  Wait for the official announcement.

So the features that they are bringing back for these kettles, the white wall throwbacks, the wood grained plastic handles, rollers, and tab as well as the thermometer bezel; the very things that differentiate these grills from all the other modern grills doesn't put them in the category of collectible?  The "collectible" category is based on pure numbers produced?  Damn, by that definition, I'm going to have to sell off my entire collection. Well everything except the Glen Blue 26er since they only produced around 1000 of those.  I guess I can't even call it my "collection" since they were pretty much all mass marketed at one point or another so everyone could get one. SMDH.

Such a disappointment.  It really cheapens what is otherwise a nice looking grill.  I never liked that when car companies use fake wood.  I'd rather them use the plain grey.

That satin black needs those wheels painted red like the hot rod in that picture.

It's kinda calling to me......

Ooohh - that would look awesome!

Yellow and blue WILL be added. And if the "gray" is green like the pics from Russia, that's the sexiest grill I've ever seen.

Have a feeling it's going to be a year of cool stuff from Weber. Can't wait!

True..... Mine will get SS sweeps, SS lid handle strap and new wood handles to start.  Interested to know if the lower triangle tray just sits on a standard triangle or if it's actually the supporting piece.

I was super bummed when I saw the price.  Not sure why it is $100 more than the Canadian Colored MT's they are currently selling.  $400 is getting close to performer prices.  You can get a 10% off at Crate and Barrel for the slate and drop that performer down to $450.

With all the upgrades some people will do like @bamakettles and sales tax, it pushes these guys up around $500.

Maybe prices will come down...

My upgrades are mostly coming from my parts bin luckily, but I do agree - $399 is steep.  That's what I paid for my Glen Blue 26" in 2020 which I felt was totally worth it especially since I didn't have a 26" at the time.  As others have said, at this price it should have SS grates at least.  If there was no yellow offering for this I'd probably pass.  I'll probably change the wheels too, may even put a new ash pan on it in place of the ash catcher system if the ones I have fit.

I think Weber is getting a tad greedy.   This is basically a colored Mastertouch, which is $294 on their website.   The standard black 26 is $389.  I'll pass.

Guys. It's coming up on two years after the Glen Blue 26" dropped and many of the other things you've bought previously. In that timeframe, EVERYTHING has skyrocketed in price. Used vehicles sell for new prices, wood went insane, hell Bitcoin has gone from $8,800 to $42,000.

Let's be realistic. Your dollar doesn't buy today what it did two years ago.

I won't even flinch at $400 for two or three or four of these things. Yeah I'll swap the corny plastic "wood grain" handles for the real deal, and call it a day. We will be lucky to even find these in stock and not floating on a ship in the Pacific.

I see what you are saying with everything skyrocketing price wise but a 22" kettle costing the same as a special edition 26" kettle is a tad ridiculous even with inflation.  I'm glad that you don't have to flinch at dropping $400 a pop for one or two or three or four of these things but not every collector is in the financial position that you are in and are flinching at even the thought of trying to pay for one.

I can almost guarantee I am in no better a financial position than the vast majority of members. I'm an average guy with an average job and six kids, my newest vehicle is a 2007 and I'm still renting for crying out loud!🤣

I was expecting about 400 per and am planning for that. Although that Ranch Kettle I ordered pretty well negated my Kettle Stash.

From True Value Site:

$399.00

Online price. In-store price & availability may vary.

I know Costco does different prices based on buying online vs the warehouse store.  Perhaps we will see a different price in the actual stores.

Oh my, I have missed a lot since the app disappeared, including this thread.  I feel like Rip Van Winkle right now.  If these become available I would love one, but already have red and yellow vintage daisy wheels that i rarely use.  My 26er is my daily driver at this point.  The Black OKP I use just barely more than the Statesman and Gourmet.  IDK if I can justify another 22.  We'll see....

Well the green isn't as dark/olive as I had hoped, but that confirms that three of those will be happening; blue, green and yellow.

They are gorgeous - but the green looks a lot brighter and darker than the pictures I've been seeing on Weber's
website - which look more mint-y or sage-y to me.  In my case, I hope the actual color is more like what they have on the site.  :D

Things got a bit busy today but I was able to snap a few teasers...

The faux wood handles were a concern for me before I got to see it in person but honestly they look really good and even have a textured grain so they feel legit. I love the green! In person its not as spring green as it looks in the picture, its leaning closer to a Cado'

Hope to get some more tomorrow

Couple other quick notes:

- The porcelain appears to be significantly better than the Red LE fiasco. You can tell they paid special attention to the leg socket areas (at least on the 3 I've opened) as they looked very polished in comparison.
- The triangle pan looks nice but it will be interesting to see how they hold up after a few seasons outside. There is still a full triangle hidden under that the pan is fastened to.
- Metal sign is decent but a bit thin. Slightly larger than a standard license plate. Bottle opener on the other hand is pretty solid and I want one lol
- The top handle metal strap assembly (part the handle screws onto) seems stronger and better quality. There are also tiny rubber washers/gaskets on the bottom side to protect the porcelain a bit.
- No push caps to hold on the wheels, uses a cotter pin through a tiny hole in the triangle wheel post.

That's about all I can remember for now. They look fantastic in person!

The 70th Anniversary Kettles are now up and priced at Weber.com under charcoal grills. 439 dollars a pop. Can't wait to see what they look like in person.

Love the colors - but I really can't fathom why these are price $140 more than the Mastertouch - for an aluminum tray, sign and bottle opener?  I think a $50 premium would be more in-line for what you're getting.  The Glen-Blue 26 was $399 less than two years ago - sure, covid, supply-chain, inflation, etc. means the Glen-blue would probably be closer to $499 in todays dollars.  I'm sure the yellow will sell like crazy since it's been a long time since that color was available.

I agree on the price - Anniversary Edition = $$$. I also really like the yellow, but . . . really neat look, but is it worth the bucks? Probably will regret it later not getting one when they are available.

Totally agree, and I think there is also another reason. Between the initial demand at $399 and prices on the secondary market (in 2020 and now), I think Weber believes they left money on the table with the Glen Blue 26.  Demand so far outstripped the supply, that Weber could have charged a lot more ($600+?) at the time and still sold every single one they produced.

At the end of the day, while I would love to have a 70th Anniv. kettle, I would get more enjoyment by purchasing $439 worth of prime meat and Berkshire pork.

Besides, I'ml holding out for the 75th anniversary kettle priced at $749!  ;D

I've decided not to purchase any of these..... the realization has hit that to add any more means to get rid of some to make room.  I've got quite a few that I've never cooked on and I would probably only have these around to look at.  Considering a sell off too........

I think if I budget my money right, I'll be able to purchase 1 anniversary edition kettle every 2 years. In this order: Hot Rod Yellow, Diner Green, Rock N Roll Blue. I already have 2 weathered warriors that are Hollywood Gray, so

HG is out! I sure hope these AEK will be around for the next six years. @Jburns if truly you do work for Weber, can you put in a priority request straight to the head source, for the Weber Glen Bue Master Touch 22.5" to be

released in the U.S. market?

The Glen Blue kettle launch was one of my projects, and that program was only envisioned as a one-time offering, but I'm happy to keep your idea in consideration. In the meantime, the Rock N Roll Blue kettle is quite similar to Glen Blue, but a bit lighter.

I won't say that it'll never happen, but it's important to remember that 26" kettles are sort of a niche product. Those that own a 26" kettle generally love them, but the popularity of 22" kettles is exponentially higher. That's a big part of why we make Performers in the 22" kettle size vs other sizes.

It'd be pretty cool if people could custom order a 26" performer direct from Weber.  Could be a money maker for the company, depending on tooling.

Yeah old Brandon's at it again stealing my ideas, stealing my pictures.  This clown stole my picture directly off of my eBay sale.  This guy has no handles and nothing for sale regarding the 70th anniversary.  He's so morally and creatively bankrupt he has to blatantly steal my images and ideas with no shame!!!

Everything I have on eBay is for sale and ready to ship right now.  He's just taking pre-orders and he's going to try to cobble some stuff together to resemble my handles as usual.

The mere fact that he turned off comments on that thread on his  grill giAnt site is his admission of guilt.  He doesn't want to listen to everyone tell him that he's a fraud on his own website for stealing my photos, and my ideas.

I have absolutely nothing to do nor will I ever have anything to do with that guy again.  He's such a phony he refuses to take my name off of his website I have had nothing to do with him for over 4 years on that grill handle website.

As a matter of fact the background in that photo are my kitchen countertops if you need any more pictures I can send you plenty from my kitchen.    Go ask Brandon if he can reproduce that photo.

This is what you get when you deal with a fraud like Brandon steals my pictures steals my ideas.

If you want the handles you can go right to my auctions right now buy them and I'll ship them on Monday.  If you send that clown your money it will take you minimum 2 months to get anything because he has nothing on hand and not even close to being ready to produce anything regarding these 70th anniversary handles.

Makes sense why he posted via a fair few groups the other day. I gave him a normal response on the 2 I saw and it is flattering when someone wants to be like you but in business it's not great when ideas are stolen. The guy is a absolute tool and I hate to say it but I am glad he is in America and not here in OZ even though he has a few so called "buddies here" absolute toss pot

Cannot wait to see some good photos of these, the blue looks interesting. I just
wish we could have gotten a Red one. The Red is so iconic that it would have fit
with the anniversary perfectly.

True, but at the time of launch there was a lot of issues surrounding the build quality. It was a mistake
on my part to not give it a chance, since Weber has such great customer service but the reports were
so negative it gave me pause. I was mistaken in the thinking that RED was back to stay and they would
improve it on the next go around. Had I known what I know now, I would have bought two of them. My
goal is to convert my 2nd gen performer to a Red bowl and lid.

Local dealer got gray and blue in. Still on the fence about gray, blue is very close to Glen Blue but I would say GB is a smidge darker. They pulled the nicest boxes and set aside for me, yellow is on the way with green yet to ship. Confirmed they ordered a Ranch for me as well....going to be a spendy early summer for me

With the way the market has dropped in recent weeks, who would miss a quarter of a share of Alphabet getting sold?  ;)

$439??? That's $300 more an Original Kettle. It's also $140 more than a colored Master-Touch and $164 more than the black Master-Touch. Weber did not get this greedy with the GB 26". My hot take is that the 70's will still be available in a month, and at some point after that, they will get marked down.

Edit: How did I miss this. A black 26 is $10 LESS than a 70th Anniversary!

A lot of people have already said they were not buying because of the price.   Which leads to less people excited and wanting to talk about it.  If these were $300 there would probably be a lot more activity today.  Just my guess.

My Glen Blue 26" was $399 and I'm very happy with it and glad that I bought it.  I got it for a couple of reasons...... It is actually a color that I wanted - Glen Blue, and I didn't have another 26" grill at the time which was something I wanted and needed.  I think that if they matched colors from the 60s/70s to the anniversary editions it would make more sense and be more sought after.  I do like the colors offered, but I'd wager that if they did these in Glen Blue, a true Gourmet Yellow (70s), a chocolate and a true red all that matched color tones of the past with names of the past along with authentic wood handles and metal wheels they'd sell more.  The price turned me away along with plastic hubcaps and handles.  I'd still like to have one some time - maybe used if the opportunity comes along.

Completely agree. If there was a 26" option I would be more inclined to drop $400+.

Yeah it's a duller finish. Although they were inside but seems they have a similar finish to the copper/maroon/green they also offer. Standard black is far shinier.

This is accurate. The Hollywood Gray 70th Kettle has a less glossy finish than the other 70th kettles, and also contains some mica to give it a subtle sparkle. #IworkforWeber

I see a lot of people based in the USA complaining about the price, and I got to say that I think you had a gravy train in the past and these kind of prices are here to stay.

I don't live in the US so take this with a bit of ignorance, but according to google it seems like US pays relatively highly for the majority of jobs vs other countries, and cost of things are based on this.

If you're paying $100 US for a brisket ($5/lb), how can you expect a metal, hand painted coloured porcelain enamel product with distribution and at least a 10Y life expectancy to cost $150-200?

Australia pays >$400 US for a 22" kettle as normal, and we know that's not all just the extra shipping. I honestly think the US prices will rise, particularly if Weber can't automate the colour coatings.

@Jburns , Since you are part of the WKC family now, if you can pull some strings behind the scenes and send a priority request to the head source of Weber, to give all WKC members a $200 discount on each 70th Anniversary

Edition Kettle purchase. (10,000 strong!) That would be an amazing feat.

I am paying $3.99 / lb, for USDA Prime Brisket. For Wagyu, it's around $4.59 / lb.

We paid $30 for our Kettle, in 1979. The CPI numbers show that this same kettle today should cost $127.

Well I drank too much last night and talked myself into buying the yellow. It should be here Thursday!

Was it the price tag to ponder ? Sure it was but I've spent $800 on a LEGO set that can't cook food for my family. Beer makes you think clearly so it was an easy decision.

I guess I'd really like to have all of them and that's when the price tag hurts. I thought yellow was the best bet since we've had nothing like it for a while. If I could get them all my order next would be the blue then green and lastly the gray. I'd really have to see that on in person.

I hope to post pics soon. We were one of the first on here to get the glen blue and it was damaged. I hope the 22 goes better since it's smaller.

Logic still stands at $3.99 / lb. You pay $80 for a big brisket that lasts 3 days, yet think $400 for something you'll probably cook tens of thousands of dollars worth of food on over its life is too much.

The average household in the United States spends $61,334 a year on expenses. That's around $90,000 AUD. Australia min wage is about $28k USD and we pay over $400 USD for a kettle. Most stuff hasn't only increased by CPI.

I love the colors but $440 plus tax is way too much for me as well for a kettle. In general Weber prices have gone through the roof recently. $570 for a two burner Spirit, $1000 for the cheapest 3 burner Genesis, $580 for a Performer, ..... I stick with my used colorful grills and always keep an eye out for other used ones.

To be honest, I was back and forth on this since I learned the price a while back.

I have more grills than I really need and I've been able to find most in the wild reasonably priced.

The hunt, meeting some nice folks and learning the stories behind the finds has been the fun part of this hobby.

I've been looking for the ever elusive gourmet since I started. Hasn't happened thus far and I really wanted a yellow to round things out.

Well, I pulled the trigger Tuesday morning and it arrived today.

Wasn't sure what to expect but I will say I was impressed. Only my second grill out of the box new and this one is flawless.

In fact, It looks fantastic. I was thinking the plastic wood handles would look cheap. I was wrong. They are very natural in look and feel. Nicely engineered and should stand up to the weather.

It was getting late so not a lot of pics. I'm looking forward to getting this one hot soon!!

Glad to hear everything looks good on the kettle.  Premium price should command premium product.   I think Weber leadership knows people will scrutinize the hell out of the enamel.

Does anyone know what the bottom tray is made of?  Hopefully, aluminum or something that will not rust.

My new Hot Rod Yellow has the exact same problem as Horsman's grill.  I did file a claim.  We'll see what happens.  I'm pretty upset to have spent over $400 just to have a bent lid that doesn't fit.  .

Exactly what I was talking about in my Diner Green post..... my vintage kettles have an almost comfortable feel when placing the lid on the bowl with an assuring clunk.  My 2021 Glen Blue 26 has the same characteristic as does my 2017 red LE.  This one is a bit more challenging just to seat the lid as if things are out of round.  It's pretty, but would be cumbersome as a daily driver IMO.

Is this still the Weber kettle club or a bitch session because I'm about sick of it. The entire club is built around rrr and yet nobody can get through the difficult problems of a new grill.

Everyone whines about give me something special in a color I want and then when it comes out every one bitches about the price. Well, it is what it is   Buy it or don't. But Weber has given you what you've always wanted. It's there for the taking people. Please support these 70th or you will only see basic black for the next 70 years if Weber could even survive that. Get with it people and support an American company and support the basic principles of this club.

I for one welcome all of the comments, because it's through these reports that Weber can isolate and understand the issue. I think that
there is an expectation that should come with a high profile release such as this and if there are deficiencies, then Weber would be the
first to want to know. My experience has been they will always stand by their product and ensure consumer satisfaction is met. My
hope is that even though they are now a public company that the values put forth and loyalty to the customers continues for years to come.

Brand new lids always feel weird to me. They never seem to fit real well.  I think we get used to cooking on our old grills with a nice built up layer of grease.  If a lid just flat out doesn't fit, then yea that's an issue.  I appreciate everyone's feedback on grills and love seeing all the pics, keep them coming.

New colors look great! Congratulations to all that have jumped in and pulled the trigger.

I never complained about the price of the grill until it showed up with a lid that doesn't fit.  I would understand if it was an old used grill.  I'm just having trouble with it coming right out of the box that way.  As soon as we accept this poor quality than we allow Weber lower their standards and cheapen the brand.   This will be an opportunity for their customer service to shine.

I do not have one of these nor do I have one on order. But, I feel that at a premium price they should have premium packaging. Including double layer corrugated boxes, extra cardboard or bubble wrap between the lid and bowl and boxes packaged with the leg sockets up.
Even when doing all of the above UPS and FedEx can still find a way to damage them but it may cut down on the amount of complaints.

Bitching about people bitching and wondering if this is the WKC or a bitch fest...hmmm.  Telling people that the high price "is what it is" so "buy it or don't" but then telling people to go out and buy it to support Weber so we get more colors. Lots of irony and contradictions is this post.

Not everyone can afford this grill. I, for one, am trying to sell stuff out of my collection to try and get a blue or green.  Might not happen but I am trying.  I guess if it doesn't happen, I'm not a supporting the basic principles of this club?! Come on now! As far as people complaining...when paying that premium of a price, these grills are going to have to be pretty near perfect out of the box and if they aren't the consumer has every right to complain. My hope is that they will go to Weber to see how it can be made right before taking it to social media but no matter what, they have every right to complain if it's warranted.  Weber needs to know the issues to avoid them for future products and runs.  If there are problems with the grills out of the box, it won't matter how many colors Weber gives us, people won't be buying them if quality out of the box, for that price, is taking a hit.  That is the last thing Weber or any of us collectors wants. Having said all of that I am hearing almost all positives for these out of the box and hope I am able to save some $$ up before they are gone!

The hook bracket fits in a channel in the plastic handles.  Check the pics these are replacement wood handles from Brian.  I didn't know if the real wood handles would accept the hook bracket.

I have noticed and this may be the case with all  the grills that the top of the handle frame is always not fully coated. All of the shots of
the new 70th's that I have seen also exhibit this trait. I understand the bottom of the leg holders also has this issue but this
is due to manufacturing and isn't seen once the one touch system is installed. Doe's anyone having any insight as to why the
main handle top is not fully coated? I understand it is coated black but what I am referring to is the color layer.

I see what you mean.... I took a look and took pics of a few of mine.  My 70th green looks a little thin on top, but is green to the handle.  Both my Glen blue 26ers have good coverage.  White Master touch and a few others definitely show black undercoating.

My guess is if they sprayed it again, you'll have darker spots around the handle straps.  My $0.02.

They should include these faq lists with the owners manual.

The leg sockets can have thin color enamel, too.  They may even have smudges where the bowl sat on the sockets.

They are not the same color. Glen Blue is much darker, it's more a sky blue where Rock N Roll blue is much lighter. I'll grab pics later this week, mine are in two different places (moving)

If the Anniversary Edition came in Glen Blue I would have definitely bought one.  Same with the yellow if it were the vivid yellow of the 70s.  I got the diner green since its color was far away from anything I already had.

Does anyone have the 70th blue and the 26 glen blue?  I would like to see them side by side.  I ordered the Yellow and Green 70th today.  I will probably not get the blue as I have the 26" in glen blue.  Anyone know if they are the same color?

Read this.   What you should expect with enameling.  Some black on the handle straps is expected.

Thanks for sharing this. I actually wrote this article myself to try and answer some of these very questions. When the bowl is upside (which is how it is oriented when the spray booth operator applies the enamel) the upper side of the bowl handle strap is positioned so that it doesn't get the color enamel coat applied as easily as the rest of the bowl. This has been the case going back decades in the history of our color enameled kettles. #IworkforWeber

I think the Galley Que Sea Foam looks similar to the Rock n Roll and Glen Blue, altho I've only seen those 2 in pics. I didn't realize the GlenBlue is so much darker.

Also turquoise from around 2010 which is the exact same shade as the modern Glen blue.

Check out your local Ace hardware. I bought all of the floor models for $200 each. They stated no one purchased a single one at their store. They were all assembled but complete with all accessories. No boxes though.

Unfortunately I believe it. My Ace doesn't carry them but local retailer does, and aside from me buying all four I don't think they've sold any. These weren't the hit that the GB 26 was, but I love them!

When I was on the Weber site this morning it said NOTIFY ME on 3 out of the four colors. Maybe they found some more in the warehouse.
