I posted the other day that I purchased a Visions Kamado from Costco.
In order to pay for it, I am doing a sell off of some of my Weber stuff.
So when I posted this on Facebook she said "You put your Weber 'children' up for sale to buy it, they may kick you out of your Weber club"

This should probably be moved to Off Topic
You're on double secret probation!
You sold all you Weber stuff? Shame on you..

OK, I am selling quite a bit of it. However, I am keeping my mini Joe WSM and my '99 Master-Touch.
so I still have Weber gear. With that response it sounds like you would have kicked me out of the club. HAHA.
LB, a question: What are you going to use the Costmado for that you could not do on a weber?

That is a good question, so far nothing as I put it together yesterday. For me it is about the experience than anything, I have had many gassers and most variations of kettles in the past 3 years, I have never used or owned a kamado. Who knows, I may own it for a few months and list it because it is all hype and no substance. But atleast I will have owned one and used one which is what I could not say last week.
At $399 I could not pass it up. My love for Webers is second to none the type of food that you can get on a $20 kettle that is 15 years old of of Craigslist is simply amazing.
I think you will be happy with your new purchase. I heard those are real nice. Glad to hear you still have a couple Webers. Cheers to a fellow Michigander.
You got a great price and won't have any regrets. I have owned a few kamados and what I found is the main thing a kamado does easily is bake. You can also do long cooks with a small amount of charcoal. Most people that have had both prefer food smoked on a weber kettle or wsm vs. a kamado. I loved doing baked pasta dishes, pizzas and deserts on kamados, but I would definitely leave the smoking and grilling to a weber. That's a first class looking kamado. I am still tempted to get one myself for what you paid.
Duke, you can't bake on a weber?
I baked brownies on mine.... another member has been busy baking on their OTP kettle...and its inspiring me to take up kettle baking :)
I can bake, and you can bake, but Duke can't bake. :'(

It's a good thing I bought a few handles from Brian because I am not sure he is going to sell them to me anymore, or atleast at the price the everyone else gets them for. ;)
I'm teasing you. There was a bayou classic a few years back at Lowes that's was so nice looking I really wanted to get it. If I found an old ceramic cooker I would get one for sure.
