This became an interesting subject on another thread.
What car/vehicle did you learn to drive?
In my case it was my dad's 1970 Buick Riviera with a 455 V8 under the hood.
Mine was a 1973 Buick Regal with a 350 4 barrel carburator. That thing was huge. Plenty of room for friends but not very good gas mileage. One benefit to a new driver was that it had such a stout front bumper that if you made a mistake it would break off and bend over a street sign on a 4x4 post and not even mar the rubber. Or so I heard.
Very 1st car was a 59 triumph tr3a, I was 12 and got.my ass beat for taking it out, after that 68 impala with a 350 hp 327

Learned to drive in my dad's 1974 light blue (very close to Glen Blue) Dodge Coronet. 318 V-8 and that car would haul a$$. This isn't it, but looks just like it. Lots of memories in that car....

69 datsun 210. Picture not from the one i drove(i wish it was that nice lol)
63 Dodge - 880 Special, tan colored just like the one in the photo below. It was originally my Grandparents car. It had a 383 V8 with a non posi rear end. Had to put a new tire on one the rear drive wheel about once a month. Man that thing would do amazing burn outs with smoke billowing out of the one wheel well. It had a push button transmission on the dash board. Thing weighed a ton.

I think we had Ford Focus's during drivers Ed but my first car was a 1994 Acura Integra LS. Also drove my parent's Yukon Denali and GMC conversion van.
My stepdad taught me how to drive a three on the tree in a mid 70s Ford econoline van. I took my driving test in a 75 Chevy Nova, that had been converted to a four speed manual.
High school drivers Ed car was an early 80s Dodge Aries K-car. With three students and an instructor the K-car would have trouble topping 60mph. Maybe that was a good thing lol

First learned in a '51 ford 1/2 ton flatbed, but that was only in the fields.
On the road I learned to drive in a 1971 Datsun LB110. It was an unadulterated piece of shit.
This is the closest picture I could find of Riviera similar to my dad's.

The first car I drove (other than a driver's education car) was a 1964 Plymouth Valiant with a hole in the floorboard and stick shift.
It was older than I was. I didn't drive it very often and never really learned stick shift on it.
About two years later, I bought an old Volkswagen Rabbit that was a stick shift. That is how I learned how to drive a manual transmission.
The first two days were super embarrassing.

That is how I learned stick also. I bought a 1966 VW beetle as a baby Airman in the Air Force and had to drive it home 20 minutes in Las Vegas traffic :o
The first vehicle I drove was a 55 Ford F-100 6cyl 3 speed. I passed my driver's exam in a 66 Merc Comet 289 auto. My first car was a 68 Mustang 200ci 6cyl 3 speed.

My father loved his Chryslers. I loved driving this car and wish I still had the damn thing. Dad's was jet black with red interior. Slick.
My dads 88 F250. 460/5 speed. The rule was, learn manual or you can't drive. I'm passing that down to my own...

1953 Austin A30. Ran it for about three years until I threw a big end shell and drove it 20 mile home with high revs to keep it going!! Hey! I was very young at the time!! Replaced it with an engine from an A35 which ran fine until someone T-Boned me :(
84 Pontiac Gran Prix.
No wonder i got into Volkswagens!
69 Datsun 510 sedan with a stick. Looks very similar to this one. I was 12 at the time. Most fun at that age besides puberty.
