So I am about to finally run out of my Weber charcoal. I bought a pallet on clearance at Home Depot a while back. The stores here have been reduced to Royal Oak and/or Kingsford, both of which I haven't had the greatest success with. What charcoal is everyone using besides those? I heard a while back that Cowboy bought Stubbs and will be producing the briquettes but haven't seen them. Thanks!

I really like B&B both briquettes and lump.
I agree with
@bamakettles.
My local Ace hardware stocks B&B briquettes and Lowe's carries lump.
I just switched a few months back to jealous devil lump. It's a little more expensive but I've had really good success with it. It doesn't pop and it responds well to damper changes. Oh and it burns nice and long. I would recommend a try.

Kingsford has never let me down.

I'm with you on the Weber charcoal. I have been through probably 25 bags of it and I am down to my last 8 or so of it.
I have tried the B&B and Rockwood lump and like them both, the price is reasonable. I have not tried the jealous devil yet.

I like b&b briquettes. I also like kingsford pro at Costco. They should start stocking it soon.

Rockwood lump, with B&B competition oak briquettes a very close second.
Ace hardware! Find one and enjoy.
I got a bag of JD recently at Academy Sports. Probably the best lump I've cooked with to date. Burns forever and clean. I like the all natural RO briquettes and bb lump and briquettes. For the money it's hard to beat BB .

Jealous devil was great for temp and burn time. It for sure isn't oak and hickory! Has a good flavor but an undoubtedly incense/medicinal undertone. Sort of cherry like but weirder.
If I liked smoked fish it would be ok. I prefer hickory, mesquite, and pecan. I'll be one and done after my first bag.
I just make my own. ;)

So it looks like B&B is a nice commercially made but I am intrigued with your post Raindog

Kingsford pro is good, kind of similar to the Weber briquettes. They'll be back in stock at Costco at the middle of this month.
