Title: If loving Weber's is a crime, lock me up and throw away the key.
Post by: LightningBoldtz on October 05, 2020, 12:31:19 PM
So the first pic is a view of my house from the south, several of my kettles, some gassers and a pellet grill are located on the side of the house behind that gate.  I have had many grills there for many years with no issue.

On Saturday, I got the below letter from my city stating that I needed to move numerous grills from the side of the house.  Of course, the code they referenced states nothing of the sort.  Needless to say, I called them and left a voice mail along with emailing this person to ask for the specifics of the code so I can ensure I am following it correctly.  I expect crickets until I finally get this guy on the phone.

Kind of seems weak. If you angered a neighbor they could have at least had the guts to talk to you about it first to find a compromise.

I have had a few annoyances in my neighborhood and I always tried to have a friendly conversation with them and even asked if there is anything I could do to make their life easier too.

Hopefully you can call the City and get them to drop it or at least move things around to the back of the house without issues.  Sometimes if you are friendly the guy might even give you an easy fix that will technically get you both off the hook in terms of dealing with it.

Geez what the hell
I see no problem with what I see, you can hardly even see the grills

I'm so sorry that happened to you.  It's good to see the government focusing on the big issues facing us all...

I'm waiting for the day our stupid home owner's association looks over the wall into my backyard and sees the madness there.

Keep fighting the good fight Jeff.

Totally don't understand why or what that could be about.  I say put them out on the front lawn with a big middle finger sign for all that can see.  Hold your ground brother.

Government intrusion on life, liberty, and the pursuit of Weber happiness.

Time for a taller privacy fence and a motion activated sprinkler system that comes on and may or may not spray just a little bit over or through cracks in the fence on accident of course.

No worries. Just move them for now so when they come back everything is in compliance. Call and email them and do everything they ask for the record... for as long as it takes to get that fence and sprinkler installed! lol

The HOA on the other side of the road flies a drone over people's yards and writes notices for cluttered (fenced) back yards. It's madness.

Meanwhile people drive like lunatics with kids playing in the streets.

It could be that a top Civic League member of your neighborhood is an avid Charbroil kettle collector, who saw the new Weber 26" Glen Blue w/Zav handles, next to a Weber kettle of his birth year, taken from illegal drone

footage of your side yard. Then... out of envy, made it a top priority issue to the local government to have them removed, under a loophole from a fake housing code.  Or, you live next to that doofus who kicked that Weber

Master Touch, on his Sam's Club Member's Skid Mark kettle video!

Man...I thought California was bad.  What exactly is the wording for the Outdoor Storage Ordinance they are citing?

Update: I have gone back and forth with the original person who wrote the incident up.  Thing is, in a couple of weeks I will be moving most of my kettles to the back patio for the winter.  So it will be moot.  I think he understands where I am coming from now that I have explained the situation, I just think he works for a bitch who says "who needs that many BBQ's".  He said basically move the grills he will follow up and close the case out.  Once spring time roles around I will put them back.  Meanwhile, I will be putting blockers on the chain linked fence so no one can see in my space.

That's good news it got resolved. Still crazy to me it was taken to that level for items neatly secured on your property on the side yard.

May want to check into the laws on this, in your area. In VA this would be a Class 1 Misdemeanor. In fact the Police have to get a warrant to use a drone for surveillance.
Here is a link to a site with some Drone Laws and Regulations. If I'm not supposed to post links I apologize in advance and will be more than happy to remove it.

So let me get this straight.

They fly a drone over houses to see in the back yard inside their fence where no human being could ever see over a privacy fence and give notices??!!

I might sue for invasion of privacy or just move to a neighborhood with less busy body bored HOA members.

Sounds like someone needs to get a job and a life.

Not my neighborhood, if it was I'd have some fun with the drone. TBH this was from two or three years back. It was all over FB. 1000% agree that they need to mind their own business.

Stuff like this is why I will immediately & permanently walk away if the term "HOA" is even mentioned when I'm looking to relocate.
I had family in Georgia who were fined (& it stuck) by the HOA because they used the wrong color mulch!
