As mentioned in my introduction post I got my first Weber Kettle 22-in Premium (my first charcoal grill in general actually)
I did a few small modifications right off the bat. I installed a temp probe port and sprayed the cut with high temp paint as well as a lavalock felt strip around the lid. I also bought the Slow n' Sear for it.
Any other recommendations? Not sure I need a new/better life thermometer since I have the Maverick XR-50.
Is there a recommended elevated cooking grate?

Not sure if this is what you are looking for an elevated grate, you could buy an 18" grate and get the bolts and do what I did.
