Hello!
Is it possible to convert the ash tray from an original 22 Kettle into the ash catching bowl from the premium model? If so, is parts 7-8-9 all that I need? I would like to minimize the amount of ashes that are blown by the wind :D
Thanks!
Yes. Just need the parts. The collar or ring clips into the leg sockets and the pot either clips or twists in. They usually go 30-50 on amazon/ebay

I replaced mine last year, and it was pretty straight forward. I assume you don't need a new sweeper lever or ash sweeping wings in the bowl? I've been very happy that I made the switch!
Yes, very easy
Thank you very much guys! I will order the parts then :)
is the ash catcher worth while? does it make much of a difference?
Im asking as Im trying to decide what grill to buy

The enclosed ash catcher is really nice upgrade. The dog dish style ash pan can be messy, especially in windy conditions. Ash blows all over the place. It mainly depends where your BBQ will be located. If your grilling area is on dirt, green grass or gravel, it doesn't make much difference if ash spills onto the ground. If your grill will be on a deck, nice patio or near dry grass I would highly recommend getting a kettle with the enclosed ash bucket. They are clean and really easy to dispose of ashes. The dog dish style ash pan is just plain messy and sometimes has a tendency to blow off in strong winds.
Mine just arrived. Maybe now my dogs will quit eating the drippings out of the ash catcher...SHEESH!
