Title: Hello from Cookeville TN
Post by: DougC on March 08, 2020, 07:00:43 AM
Have been a griller for years but mainly used gas grills. However, my grill was destroyed in a tornado last Tuesday. I ordered a Weber performer deluxe yesterday and am excited for it to arrive. Any advice or tips for a newbie in the world of kettle cooking? Thanks in advance!

Welcome from the Rocket City, Huntsville Alabama!  Grate to see new folks here, lots to learn.  Share your cooks, we love pictures!  So sorry for your losses, I'm just a couple hours south of you and have been thinking about you guys up there.  You'll love the Weber for sure.  Best wishes for a full recovery in your area soon!

Welcome from Highland Park, Illinois!

My tips would be to invest in the following:

1) Charcoal chimney starter for getting your coals lit (no lighter fluid - EVER)
2) Good grill brush for cleaning your grate off after cooks
3) Instant read digital thermometer
4) The book: "Weber's Big Book of Grilling" which has super easy to follow instructions on charcoal grilling and recipes by meat type.

Number one, though: HAVE FUN AND ENJOY YOUR GRILL!
