Title: Restore Table
Post by: dirtfishingman on February 03, 2020, 08:00:42 PM
Guys,
I'm on a hunt for a nice price of wood to make a replacement table for my kettle.  In the mean time looking to fix this up?  Anyone ever think of putting truck bed liner on the table?  I got a high gloss one?

Hi there - someone has replaced the table with a wooden one before. Check out the link below (you may have already seen this tho).

Never heard of putting a truck bed liner on it!

I've been debating that too. Line-X or Rhino Linings seem to be willing to spray anything, but I wasn't sure about the rough texture. Or, I didn't know if it would be any more cost-effective than just replacing it with one of the newer metal Performer tables. I do love the results that others have gotten with wood, but don't have the tools yet to try my craftiness. Definitely a future project, but that's why I'm thinking of going with a relatively lower cost solution.

I used epoxy and krylon fusion it worked well.

I always assumed that fiberglass stuff some people would use on a car body would work well, but I don't have any cracked tables.  Beside that their regular version, Bondo also had a fiberglass resin version.  I'm guessing you could even find something similar, not specifically for autos, & it would probably be less expensive because it is not geared towards a specialty market.

Let us know how it works out, longer term, if you think about it anyway.

Well here goes nothing lol I pulled a dumb move and forgot to sand the epoxy I'm going to see how the texture is and maybe hide it if not going to sand it down the apply again(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200209/5094268bae52066f273a1b5ed0771b85.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200209/7e1cce8c4b805d25b6b9939483b3eb79.jpg)

Hope you don't need to sand again. I really like the black on the table.

Looking good so far.  I sprayed the bottom of the OTP with bed liner too since I toss all my accessories there (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200211/cc787b756b5dda2658906e216b32c7c8.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200211/e5b6a86d184b33056b0c0137131782e1.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200211/a970a7de1d841220f7719c04260f3e21.jpg)

Nice color choice for the table, really makes that red kettle stand out.

Let us know how it holds up.  Also, was it actually truck bed liner that you wound up using, or was it something else?
