It's pretty subjective, but yes, it is comparable to Kingsford in quality and performance. Fine for my routine grilling.

Central Indiana. Listed on the Lowes website with locations/quantities. I checked out of state and it's the same deal. Chicagoland, for example.

I bought 10 bags before Thanksgiving....
I thought those were bags of lump in your trunk at first, I almost told the kid to get his coat back on! Lol. I might still go grab some bags, I like using it in the chimney better than lump
Thanks for the tip. Going Saturday.
Just curious........
How many lbs of charcoal do y'all stack up?

It's good to stock up on 8-12 bags when it's on sale. That's about all I want to store.
I just picked up a bag of kamado big block at Costco to try out.

I really enjoyed the Kamado big block and plan on buying some, I got my first bag as a gift
If you haven't used this charcoal before, I'd recommend trying 1 bag of it before you go buy a bunch. I bought 4 bags on sale at Labor Day, and personally I think it's total crap. No offense to anyone who is a fan of it. If anyone in StL likes it, I'd be happy for someone to come take these remaining 3.5 bags off my hands.
It doesn't burn very hot, or for very long, produces tons of ash, only burns up about 2/3 of the briquette before tons of thick ash snuffs it out. The briquettes are very small, but even when accounting for their small size, they seem to put out very little heat per briquette. I mainly use briquettes when doing the snake method, and it is terrible for that.
As you can tell, I would not recommend it not matter how cheap they're selling it for. Just my 2 cents.
Not my experience with RO red bag but I'll say their all natural briquettes sold at Walmart are amazing.

Didn't exactly need any charcoal.....but I decided to stash 5 bags anyway.
Hard to pass up a solid deal on something I now use quite often.
Thanks for the heads up.

The Double Pack "Professional" at Walmart is good stuff. I like the All Natural better though. The All Natural is what I use for competition.

Same here...seemed weird to pay $5 for the Royal Oak when those bags of Weber were something like $2 on clearance last year!
Thanks for the RO heads up. I've never used it though. Does anyone know where it's made?

A ton of Royal Oak is produced in the Missouri Ozarks...I have family in the lumber industry down there who sell to facilities in Salem and West Plains, MO.
Also, in case you didn't know, Missouri is the number one producer of charcoal in the US. I have other family members who live in Belle, MO...where Kingsford's main plant is. Harry Soo did a visit there a while back.

Thanks! Didn't know the history of Kingsford - I didn't know about Harry's blog either.

IMO, head and shoulders above kingsford.
Never used RO before, but at that price, I'm happy to give it a go!
