I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I'm always looking for the not to common bbq sauce. I live in Phoenix, Az and I like not extremely sweet sauce. I really like Texas style sauces. So that being said what are some good sauces out there that you may not find in your regular grocery, Walmart, store?

Do you like vinegar based? Bubba's is really good, something like hot sauce and bbq sauce had an illegitimate love child. Its mostly Kansas city style around here. A guy from south carolina sent me some really good mustard based that was really good. I will look later for the name
Rudy's sause (that's how he spells it). Gotta order online unless ya live in Texas.
At Dillons (Kroger) I find Private Select (upscale store brand) sauces that are surprisingly good.
Blues Hog Tennessee Red sounds like what you might be looking for. It's a vinegar sauce with some sugar...but it's not sweet and sticky.

Rib Rack Original BBQ Sauce is very good.
I think just about any brand that can be bought is sold on Amazon or Walmart.
I can do vinegar sauce, I'm more into slightly sweet spicey, and warmed up temperature wise. I'm really a dry rub guy and haven't done a ton of sauce exploration. I've had blues hog original...way to sweet for me, sweet baby rays vidalia onion is good, had some stuff from Walmart called Head Country, we all like that a lot, it was just too runny.

Check out the Rudy's sause. It fit's your description exactly.
Have you tried making your own? It isn't that difficult.
My favorite is Twin Anchors - Prohibition Sauce. My buddy and I will buy a case and split it. It's a brown sugar based sauce that's thicker but has a definite kick to it.

Rudy's does sound like it's up your alley. Used to get big bottles everytime we visited the in-laws in New Mexico. Wish they still lived there! Might have to put an order together... wife loved the sissy sause, i love regular.
This is my go to sauce...
Rudy's with a twist
• 1 (8oz) can tomato sauce
• 1 cup ketchup
• 1/2 cup brown sugar
• 2 1/2 tbs white vinegar
• 2 tbs Worcestershire sauce
• 1/4 cup lemon juice (2 lemons)
• 1 tsp course black pepper
• 1/4 tsp cumin
• 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
• fresh nutmeg
• dash of soy sauce
• honey to taste
• pineapple/habanero sauce to taste
Combine all ingredient in a pot, simmer until slightly reduced.
Sounds very interesting except dashes and unmeasured stuff needs a close amount...such as tsp or tbsp
