Interesting
This looks promising at least. I doubt I will be a first year buyer, but if they really dive into this and continue to fine tune it I could be tempted.
I wonder how the 5 year warranty compares to other pellet grills/smokers.
About the only gripe in can think of is they are putting non stainless steel grill grates in a $1100 to $1200 grill/smoker.

Pretty cool review
It seems like they may have addressed some of the big issues that other pellet grills have. I have a Green Mountain, which I think is a great pellet grill. But the cleanout is a total pain in the ass. You basically have to take the insides apart every few 3 to 5 cooks to clean out ash and grease. If it were easier, I'd probably use it more.

Mitch,
I couldn't agree more, I have been critical of Weber's timing on this release but looking at this it seems like they let the competition work out all the bugs and issues with these then put all that research into a great looking product. Not saying I am running out tomorrow or whenever to get one but I am saying that this product looks like the real deal. As disappointed has I have been with some of the recent products that weber has released, namely the gas grills this one looks like they delivered.

the grates are nickle plated? yeah stainless would have been a nice touch.
Yea, I kind of figured they would do stainless grates given that all of their $1,000 plus charcoal grills are stainless, but no dice. I guess if I wait awhile to buy there will be a 3rd party alternative.
Less than I thought it would be. And cheaper than the Weber summit charcoal grill???

Do you have to plug this in? Is that how most pellet grills work?
The Smokefire EX4 and EX6 have made the Weber site now , gonna have to start a new forum for Weber Pellet Grills

It says DC powered auger, but I'm sure it still plugs in.
This looks interesting, certainly competitive on the price point. If it really can get to the 600* they state that would be pretty darn good. Saw the Weber demo & it looked like it can do a nice job searing a steak......which is usually a weak point for pellet grills.
Looks like a great pellet smoker.
Here's a nice video about the construction.
