Post by: MacEggs on September 10, 2019, 01:15:54 PM

I picked up this stuff awhile ago, but never used it until now.

Wanted to try it doing some low'n'slow.
Lit a couple small pieces and got the WW pre-heating.
Used 4 small pieces of hickory.
This stuff takes awhile to lite but I was patient...  8)

On went the rack.
It got my usual slathering of Worcestershire sauce and SPG.

After an hour, it had slowly crept up to 270-280℉ and that's where it settled in.
Just after 3 hours I opened all the vents to help speed things up.
Wanted to eat at a normal time.  It then settled in at about 320℉.  I was happy with that.

After nearly 6 hours, I removed the rack and it rested for 20 minutes or so.

I am very impressed with this charcoal.
Got 6+ hours of burn time and no re-fuelling.

Thanks for looking!  :D

Great job - I need to try a short rib cook one day!

Very interesting charcoal -- they look like giant versions of those firework snakes we'd light as kids during 4th of July.

Great looking cook Mark! I've been loving beef ribs these days and those look mighty tasty!

Cool charcoal as well - Napoleon makes a very similar looking coconut version which is also extruded into the rods in the same way and seems to have similar properties ie bit longer to light but burns hot and LONG. Good stuff.
