Ok...so many of you know I've been dropping hints of a rare grill I found, that would be shown at the WKC get together event on the 15th.
I found this grill under a somewhat obscure search I had on Ebay. I knew it was a Weber, but have never seen a Galley Que like this in any Weber catalog, or in anyone's collection. It had a BIN, so I bought it. Its not a perfect grill...did have some chips and light surface rust, but I carefully sanded them down, primed them, and hit them with a 1500 degree BBQ black paint. It blended very nicely and looks much better.
Here is a link to the original listing and a brief history of the grill

One thing I noticed that I've never seen before, even on my blue Galley Que, is the special charcoal grate. It has slots in it to attach to the grate straps in the bowl to keep it in place from shifting if it was actually being used on a boat.

The next picture shows the bracket used to mount from the swing bracket on the bowl, to a post on a boat. I'm pretty sure this bracket is original with the grill as I've seen it in one of the old Weber brochures somewhere

Not sure if this is an original cover for the grill...but it looks old enough to be and sure fits nice.

Hope the hype wasn't too much on this one!
Very nice, Jeff. The galley que is one of the coolest webers imo. I can only imagine how you felt when you saw the listing on eBay!
That's outstanding Jeff !!!!
Freaking WOW!
Did I read that listing right? You got it for only $50 ?
What an awesome find Jeff! I love the speckled color. I just picked up one myself. I can't wait for its arrival.

Jeff may or may not already have a boat that I may or may not have seen yesterday.....
That's AWESOME Jeff.... What a find!!!
Anyone know how long they made these for?
Very nice. I was wondering what that bracket was sitting ont he table.. Now I know..
That cover is definitely cool too! AJ
That is cool, worth the wait!
Great photos - and thanks for the vent shots. I'm sure the canvas must have been original to the grill - whether or not it was made by Weber is another story, but something that can be researched. I loved seeing this one in the flesh, not to mention all the others. So what's your best guess as to the year?
Based on the style of vent handle, legs, and ash catcher...I'd have to put it near 1960 like the original Galley Que.
Daymn, that's really cool.

Yeah, it does look like some of the older camping gear I've got....but I think this one's going to have to be screaming "High Seas " !!!!!
I can't put into words how cool I think that is. It's always nice to find something we have never seen, especially when it's a specialty grill. Great find Jeff!

Makes sense, and explains why an ordinary search might not have found it. Neat kettle!
good catch...I didn't even notice that!
That's why I still search " bouy BBQ " lol you never know .
That's an awesome find! I love the black speckled finish!
Very cool!
Stuff like this reminds me that there is still plenty to learn....
That is outstanding. Simply outstanding.

Amen! Until recently, I didn't know there was another color of Galley Que besides aqua. Also recently learned of the existence of yellow kettles during the 'Patent Pending" era
We learn something new everyday here! :)
