The meet is live! We have about 15 people here and a few dozen grills. Food is cooking on some kettles.
Here's a teaser!

Wow! Looks like Weberfest 2013 is in the kettle lore history book! Congratulations!
Oh, man. Wish I could have been there! Great to see the photos and faces, though. And great to see the support from the Weber Mothership.

That's my '74 Kettle. The brown color is from a fine patina of rust (that is too stubborn to come off.) It was a lot lighter until I sprayed it with Pam to retard further rusting.

Big thanks to everyone that showed up today, in person or online. Great time meeting some folks for the first time while catching up with others I've met before. Unbelievable collection of grills on display. Need to do this again for sure!
Buckie, the special grill was the HC presented to Brian because he's been wanting one so badly for so long. It's like that girl at school that's always socking you in the arm and you know you like her, but just won't admit it. I bet this becomes his go to cooker. Seriously, the adjustable charcoal grate and definitely the lid hinge is really nice. It just needs some sweet handles. I think he might like it. :)
So, is the party still going on? How's Troy doing? Has he had enough Hopskipandajump yet? ??? Those are the pictures i'm looking forward too. ;)
Weber Mecca ..........I must make a pilgrimage someday
First of all, I must thank our hosts for today's meet up! Jeff and Jean were gracious and welcoming to us all, and had everything ready for a good time. You guys are the best!
Next, a big shout out to Weber for delivering an amazing bag of goodies for attendees (and a few lucky others...) Wish there was enough to go around to everyone in the club, but the great news is that we have a friend in Weber, and it can only get better. (And yes, everyone got everything pictured here!)
As for food, well let's just say even the blueberry pies were happy to be there:

And you wouldn't believe how many dutch ovens were hard at work:
And of the 50 kettles, (yes, 50!) only 2 were black. And none of those were even mine! (Although I did bring 2 more home, along with a NIB Weber ZAP.)

Weather was fine, food was great, company was spectacular, and we all can't wait for the next Meetup. Everyone was taking pictures, so I'm sure there is much more to come. Thanks to everyone involved - and everyone in the club who couldn't make it this time. We WILL do this again!

Fantastic pictures, Jeff and his Lovely wife, those pies, the goodie bags and of course the grills! Wow! :o
That is some sweet swag, Marty! Major envy over here.
You would please both me and our gracious benefactors by detailing all of those wonderful items-- I recognize the book and hat and mitt and burger press, but I don't know about the rest of it.
Mike you have a goodie bag on the way. You'll see what is inside :)

Awesome, looks like a great time. I was with you all in spirit as I wow'd some close friend with Ribs on my Mini-Joe.
Maybe next year I will plan my vacation around this event.
VERY cool !!! All the pics and the people and yes...THE GRILLS !!

You guys made history today. I am really proud to be a WKC member along with such a great group of guys. I just wish I could have come and gotten to know everyone better. I really hope to visit Chicago in the near future. Hats off to you all! :D
Awesome.
Looks like a great time at a great setting. I participated vicariously by cleaning my new-to-me "B" kettle. It looks great!
It's unbelievable to see some of the grills y'all have. I thought I had some nice ones.
Nothing, NOTHING compared to what y'all have.
I am not worthy!
Wow, what a day. It was great to meet everyone, observe some classic webers up close, and eat some great food. A special thanks to Jeff and Jean for hosting and Marty/Weber for the cool swag bag. Looking forward to the next one.....
Looks like you guys had an awesome time!! So jealous!!!!!

I had an awesome time today even though I had to bounce early. Thanks for hosting us, Jeff and Jean!
Kudos to those who drove hours to get to the meet! It was def worth it.
There was a ladder involved for some picture taking. The kettles are in semi random arrangement since we were just mostly hanging out. Taking pics of so many kettles was fun and interesting. There are also group pics, food pr0n, rare weber kettle pics, stacks of Brian's Inventory, weber paraphernalia, and more general awesomeness all afternoon. I will try to work on the pics tomorrow morning. I have to run to the airport in 2 hours lol.

While I have to say the party was a lot of work, it was a TON of fun. Thankfully the weather broke and stop raining around noon like I thought. The sun did come out, dry things out and make it actually nice, but humid out. The whole party was made successful by everyone that attended. Those of you that brought food....THANK YOU! So much good food and good desserts. I'm still full now and have no interest in ANY food! A big thanks to Marty's friend Tom (Weber CEO) for putting together all those amazing gift bags. That was certainly one of the highlights of the day. It was fun to see all the grill swaps going on...there were SO MANY grills! A big thanks to Lawrence (Gummi) and Marty for taking all the time to get some many photos. Marty's shots were great, can't wait to see Lawrence's!!!
The bar has officially been set for WeberFest II
Is anyone gonna post some pics on Weber Facebook???? If so, please try and link it somewhere here.
We both had a great time! Cindy was very happy to see that it wasn't a total sausage fest. ;D It was amazing to see so many grills in one spot. So many of them were beautifully restored and cleaned up. I came away with some good stuff too. I traded a pretty decent CGA and OK forest green kettle to Brian for a bag full of handles. My '74 Bar-B-Kettle now has a very nice handle made from American Elm that succumbed to Dutch Elm disease and came down last year. The bag also had a bunch of other handles including two sets for my SS performer and many choices for my red MT. I also got a CGA that was BNIB but missing handles. Fortunately Brian gave me enough extra handles so I had three to put on it while still leaving choices for my other grills. ;D I even got a Weber wok to fit a 22" kettle. The Weber swag was totally unexpected but very welcome. And I now have one of the T-shirts that the team worked so hard (and discussed so much ;D ) to produce, along with a couple patches and one of the vent cover posters that Marty made. In addition to the camaraderie and the great food, I came home with a lot more stuff than planned. It was well worth the entire 5 minute drive to get to Jeff's place. ;D
Meetups are a powerful way to reinforce the hobby and the brand, and you all as unofficial ambassadors have done a great job for both. I especially appreciate the representation by Weber HQ.
I wouldn't expect Official (weber.com) Acknowledgment since there's no affiliation but some images from the event surely need to be uploaded to the Weber Nation area there. And to FaceBook for those who may be part of that.

A big Thanks to Jeff & Jean for letting us hangout Sat.!!!!!!!
What a riot....Cool grills, Cooler People, and Awesome Food. I am glad Ted B, I, and our wives made the trip. The women were a little reluctant at first to just show up at "some guys house", 3 hrs from home......but.......As soon as we turned the corner and seen all the sweet grills outback.......guess who all of a sudden forgot they were there with their husbands...LOL....good thing is, Ted and I got the o.k. to buy one of those "Frick'n Huge Grills"(aka Ranch Kettle)...guess we better start looking. We all had a really good time. It was cool to meat some of the members and check out some of those cool OLD grills. Also, I actually got to talk to Golly..yes Golly, all the way from Aussie....that was sweet, what are the chances. It was also fun to hear some of the stories of where or how certain grills were acquired, some pretty awesome stories . Big thanks to Marty and Weber for the cool party pack, wasn't expecting that! A HUGE thanks goes to Troy for an awesome job on the site....I don't think we really know how much work he puts into this.
All in all a top notch day in my book, can't wait to do it again.!!!!!!!

Brent, one of your guys' wives mentioned you need a ranch. I was there as a witness! Big kettle for Big B sounds like a good fit to me. I think the ladies' Weberitis symptoms have progressed to later stages!
Gummi where's the pics?
I also bought a lime from Stu (G). Everyone who sees it loves it.

Oh and I'm not sure about this brown grill? I don't know if it's a Happy Cooker, this one says Happy Coker? Was this another Weber knock off? Anyone know the history of the Happy Cocker?
That Happy Cooker looks like its scared sitting in the passenger seat......like its being taken on its last ride..... "please don't hurt me!" Please!?" "I'll cook you anything"
;D
Not a fan of the Happy Coker either, except if it has one of those charcoal pans! I LOVE those....
What's the best way to upload a bunch of pictures? hitting the IMG button 100x is alot of work! I am only gonna get to one camera's picture sets tonight. The other camera which has the money shots will get processed tomorrow.

Ok, this is how I am gonna do it. I am gonna post the pics in series. Alot of the setup and money shots are on the other camera so those will go up tomorrow. I'll post the pics of the kettles on display and people hanging out tonight. I also have a bunch of detail pics, vents, etc that can go up later. This is gonna be epic.
Each picture will spark a whole discussion, small batches are better....that's my opinion...
Otherwise Buckie will get overwhelmed and confused...I will add to that Buckie better show up at the next meet up here in Illinois!
Lawrence said money shots.... ;D
I was gonna make an inappropriate comment....
I was the first to arrive on site. I had to come early to bring the Happy Cooker without Brian seeing!
We did a bunch of unloading (those pics will come later). Stu also arrived early and he brough a bunch of grills. Brian had to make 2 trips with his van to fit everything.
Weber Banner and some of Jeff's, Stu's, and Brian's Grills. The Ranch spaceship is also in the back. The newer ranch is mine

What's the best way to upload a bunch of pictures? hitting the IMG button 100x is alot of work! I am only gonna get to one camera's picture sets tonight. The other camera which has the money shots will get processed tomorrow.
Lawrence.....hi-lite one pic in your folder.....hold down Ctrl button & tap the letter "A".......
Dump that block of stuff into Photophucket or whatever & then get 'em here.....
I think you can compound them from a host site to a posting blank here also...just don't remember exactly how that goes as I'll usually pick & choose, telling some inane story......it may work the same ~> Ctrl (CONTROL) tab / tap "A"

Otherwise Buckie will get overwhelmed and confused...I will add to that Buckie better show up at the next meet up here in Illinois!
Several items to address here......
Gummi.....thanks for the tremendous pics...as just predicted........I'm overwhelmed.... :o
A+++++++ on all the food, so far that we've seen....
Esp. Ted.....there had to be some form of 'Turds....any form of 'Turds....It's the LAW !!!
To Hank for pulled pork, not the law, just a very strong regulation......
the deviled eggs, beans, copious use of cast iron, salads, lettuce maybe even.......
Next.....I was waiting to see the bargain table of custom wooden handles.......The BARGAIN TABLE....C'mon......Brian .......Brian........Brian.....makes so many of these that there's a BARGAIN TABLE !!!!
ALL the handles look tremendous, installed or loose..... 8)
And custom remanufactured parts, mocked up & produced all "in house" as they say......
I'm overwhelmed, but not confused.....I know what's going on here.....just stop & look at the color, style & age range represented here........BUT....try 1st doing this: take a deep breath, close your eyes for just a moment, then forget that you see these things every day......THEN take another fresh look.......
Swag on a Seville.....all that needs to be said there.....
That very 1st shot of Brian next to the Happy Cooker......he looks just "PLUM" tuckered out & I believe the day was just getting started?
The color on most of these kettles is scary....shockingly bright.....
There's more, but I'm overwhemed ( as previously stated)
As far as the next go-round, I'm down !!!!
Is this maybe yearly, did folks discuss that....can't imagine it didn't come up........
Let's see........I'm dead broke, no job, bills piled, daffy family shit, eye's STILL goofy.......from a standing start, I think I can maybe make it next year.....if nothing else, I could save on airfare & just skateboard out on the Sequoia....... 8)

Yep, the day was just getting started as Brian was squatting next to Grandpa. The HC was presented about 3hours later.
Are the kettles over saturated in the pics? My laptop screen isn't very good so I have to wing it. It looks deeply colored on my iPhone but not radioactively bright. Lmk and I can change it for next time.
Troy is moving to CA so perhaps we can have a Cali meet soon.

Piddling with it now....can get a single link slideshow, but that's dodo....what if somebody wants to perve one kettle pic endlessly?
Update: PhotoPhukcet is daffy....I can't get them to load one whole album, even tho it seems like that's what they're saying the function will do...... :o
The pics are perfect.....it's just that they reflect how unbelieveably bright the kettles themselves are...... ;D

Who is going to host the WKC Mid-Atlantic Region Meet? ;)
I wouldn't mind having folks over to our place in South-central PA (15 miles South of York) but the timing will be tricky as I work in Chicago and only get home on some weekends. I have a few tents, and room to spread out. As long as people are not offended by my growing collection of black kettles, all are welcome. Maybe around Memorial Day next year? The weather is usually very nice, and I try to take a little extra time off. Plenty to do in the area too. (Gettysburg is just up the road) I'll try the idea on my wife to see if she's up for it, but she had a good time at Jeff's so I think that's a good sign.
I'll need help, but let's make it happen!
FYI - I sent a event report and a photo to Tom Koos and thanked him for the swag he sent over. He emailed me late last night and said he's happy everyone liked the gift-bag, and thought the event looked like a blast. No doubt he's an honorary member of WKC now. I'm sure we'll have an opportunity to get together with him and the Weber team in the near future.

Thanks! It's nothing crazy, just a Nikon 50mm 1.8G. My wife recently got an F3 and took the 50mm 1.4D that I normally use and permanently affixed it haha. Personally I don't notice much difference between the two nifty 50's the way I use it but I prefer the older version without the built in AF motor due to size. It does shoot cooler than my other lenses though which is annoying when post processing. I would use my 85 1.4 but it's too much work for composition by foot, lol.
Those 50mm are great lenses, I've got the 1.8 version on my canon. It's my go too for a lot of work, just can't beat the focal length or speed. If your using Lightroom by chance make a preset to warm the pics up for that lens. Either way they look great! Those few of the Seville had me drooling! (because of the grill and the shot) can't wait to see more!

Lawrence, many thanks for all of the pictures. I know how much work that can be, both at the event and then later. When all of us are decompressing, your work has only begun. I know a number of us have already thanked you and you can rest assured that anyone who understands the work involved really appreciates your efforts.

Did that Photophucket instruction manual help with the way you wanted to load things up & transfer?

I don't know if you guys are familiar with Myron Mixon, world renown BBQ Grand Champion.....he swears by lighter fluid...I guess if it's good enough for Myron, it's good enough for anyone.....
"Its all about the damned cookin'!"
I'm a fan of him! He's no nonsense and knows his stuff. I get a kick out of his attitude.
I just finished processing the pics. Hold on to your hats, Ladies! This upload is gonna be Legen- wait for it -dary! ;D
I need a faster computer. ::) Stupid thing is really slow with this many pics!
Most of this pics were shot on a different camera with a wide angle lens. It was the only way to catch all the awesomeness going on. My goal was to make you feel like you were there and get the full WKC experience. So enjoy!
So it was raining most of that morning but as we started arriving it went to a light drizzle and then cleared up an hour or two later.

I came first in the Ranch Utility Vehicle. I had to drop off the Happy Cooker before Brian got there! Brian had to make two trips with his van to bring all his kettles. Here's how he rolls.

Jeff isn't amused that Brian hasn't cleaned any of his grills and will photobomb his pristine grill pics. Brian asked G for help, and G gives this look like "Are you kiddin' me man? I got my own kettles to unload, and unlike yours they won't get me dirty!"

Gah.
I am blissed out of my mind...
Thanks, Lawrence.
I can't stress enough how much fun I had at this event meeting everyone, eating delicious food, and perving Vintage kettles!!! Thanks so much to the founders of WKC for building the club and community. Thank you Jeff and his beautiful wife Jean for inspiring us all with your collection and for your being such great hosts! And finally thanks Glrasmussen, ChadA, AJ, and Duke for bringing some HAPPINESS to Brian's life!

PBE knocked it out of the park with these shots! Great meeting guys and its a great part of club history as well as weber history. We now have a goal to beat on the next meeting on kettles!

I do...but my neighbor borrowed it and I didn't get it back yet. I usually cook on the Performer...so I rarely need lighter fluid.

Did you see his Doberman? Just a pup and pretty friendly, but when Brian was rolling a kettle across the back yard while packing up, the dog looked at him and I heard a low growl. I'd say he's being well trained to protect the collection!

I'll save it for the next meetup! :)

Not sure I can match the meetup at Jeff's place, and my kettles are black for the most part, but I plan to host one in Southern PA for the DC/MD/VA +? crowd in the new year - likely around Memorial Day-ish. More to come on that, but I suspect regional meetups will be more common as critical mass is achieved in various regions. I work in Chicago, and I hope we do another full-scale meetup here too, although I'd love to meet up with some of the non-Chicago members out there.
Are you anywhere near Pittsburgh Marty? My wife flew in yesterday for work and comes home tonight. Very jealous because she's right down the street from Heinz Field...love me some Steeler football.
Hey Terry....Go TITANS
What a terrible game that was Jeff! Lost game and starting LB and C :(
5 hours from there Terry - good thing as I'm a Ravens fan. Hope we both have a better game this week!
