other than salivating over Weber's, what else do you like to do for fun or relaxation?

astronomy is/was my number one hobby...moved to a place with very little sun, so it's meagre now...in fact, I haven't been out observing in over 2 years :(

I'd also like to get into microscopy. I actually bought a crazy nice research grade Zeiss, but then had to well cause I downsized my living quarters from a 2 bedroom apartment to a 300sqft bachelor pad.

I also like coffee and wish I could go out camping more. I also enjoy shooting paper at the range.  :)

I too enjoy shooting. I love spending time at the range or out in the sticks putting lead into various targets. Old guns & new guns - handguns & long Guns. Big fan of older Marlins - especially levers. Find it all very relaxing.

Also like mountain biking. Have been rising for years....although not so much this past year. Really need to get back to it - guess I've got something to do this summer break.

Vintage games. Im currently collecting the mini console lineup and am hoping to have them all modded to have each game collection for that mini console. Im also collecting ds games and consoles.

Photography. Good glass + good camera body (Nikon) + good eye = good pics. Period

Kayaking,bass fishing, Bonsai trees, growing heirloom tomatoes from seeds I save every year, photography and as my handle indicates, a little into wine.

Photography and I second what @hawgheaven said.  But the most important camera equipment is the space between your ears.  But good glass followed by a good camera body are also important.  Canon shooter here but i'll switch if i ever get Nikon to sponsor me

Camping, Kayaking, fishing, music and locksmithing - collecting old locks keys and padlocks (now this is fun). I'm just starting with the photography thing.

oh yeah...I forgot about audio. guess that's cause I haven't done any real listening in the last year n a bit. all my gear is packed up as we moved in to help my wife's parents and didn't have the space. we're in our own place now, so I can break it out, just haven't...been too lazy.

My wife has been getting into photography, and I just got myself a Nikon d3300 for 60 bucks at an estate sale the other day(brand new)
Not looking forward to buying glass, we spent like 650 on my wife's tamron lens and that's pretty cheap.

@Cellar2full we should trade seeds sometime before next season! I got quite a few tomato varieties in a trade this year, but if you like peppers I'm your man! I will post up some pics of what I grew last year. We had so much rain that I'm just now getting all my plants in.

I also used to mess with car audio, but I haven't lately because I feel like I used to go through alternators a lot quicker back then lol

I will keep my eye out for old locks too @Cain will let you know if I find something

Anyway, here are some crappy cell phone pics of peppers, my main hobby, which I hope to make a business out of, some day. But its a pretty saturated market.
Oh and I make homemade hot sauce. If anyone wants to try some let me know. I haven't made a batch in a while, but I need to use up the freezer full of peppers I have.

Some of my first sauces I made I forgot to weigh some of the ingredients, or I just weighed all the peppers together, so I need to get the sweet pepper to hot pepper ratio figured out. I saved 2-3 bottles from each batch to hopefully get them right again. I have about a case of this sauce I call white devil, I'm waiting on my buddy to finish the artwork. And I have a couple ferment going that I need to process.

I'm not good at quoting multiple posts, if you guys wanna pay for shipping I will send you a bottle. I would like to get the labels done first though. I need to get an outdoor sauce making setup, cause if I'm not careful with the super hots I will run the family out of the house lol.

I have a masterbuilt cabinet I turned into a cold smoker, I would like to put a heating element in it with a temp controller to use as a smoke/dehydrator. If that happens I will definitely have some powder for you guys

Amateur Radio is a huge interest of mine.. lets see.. other things I dabble in.. photography, canoeing/camping, coleman lanterns & stoves, r/c aircraft, tinkering with cars, fishing, baking sinful pies entirely from scratch, I dunno... that's a start.

VWs (of course), and also my job. Thats my passion. My job is to provide NASA with conjunction analysis for this ISS and all visiting vehicles. In other words, I make sure the ISS doesnt get hit by other objects in space. We calculate orbits and trajectories using systems and then tell the system to capture any trajectories that will come into a "bubble" around the ISS. Whatever comes close we report to NASA. I dont work for them, but with them. We alsp collect observations on alot of objects using sensors across the globe and determine their path.   Its alot of fun. Lately ive been into Coleman stoves.

I built a 200 gal tank for my wife's 20 year old Red Eared Slider. Since the turtle died, we converted it to a freshwater community tank. Giant Danios, Loaches, Roseline Sharks, and some swordtails.

A little of both. It started out when our Hoover smelled like our dog all the time. Had a Miele with charcoal filters but didn't like having a canister. Then found out about Kirby and their charcoal activated bags. Best of both worlds, bad ass machine and no odor.

Our son is sensitive to loud noises and the new self propelled machines are louder due to the tech drive transmission in them. I tried a Heritage II model from the 80s and was hooked. I'd like to add a Classic Omega and a Tradition to the lineup someday but I'm not in a hurry.

I tried to get a job selling Kirby vacuums, when they wanted me to go pass out flyers all day, and hope 48 people called back from my flyers, then if I did 48 demos on a month I would make the 1600 bucks or whatever. I quit instantly lol.

They are bad ass vacuums though, I saw one in a pic for a garage sale, but when I got there they wanted 350, and I couldnt afford to pay that.

Same here. I took a month off when we had our first kid thinking I would be able to get back to after the sleep deprivation season was over. That was 3 years ago. Turns out it never ended lol

I picked an older Kirby up with a whole mess of bags, attachments, etc at garage sale near me.  It was $15 or less.  I've seen them listed locally for pretty cheap too.

I have hunted and fished since I was a boy and still do.  If I'm lucky enough to get 3-4 deer a year we don't have to buy ground beef.  And for 7 years that plan has worked out.  Some of my hobbies fit the same mold as Weber grills - Finding items that that others do not value or do not know how to restore.  I go back and forth between a few hobbies and interests.  Coleman lanterns and stoves, vintage cast iron and neglected guns are all items I am on the lookout for.   My best finds this year is a Coleman 200a for $2 that I rebuilt, a BSR 3052 1st gen Sportsman pan for $5.  The sportsman pan is in the electrolysis tank but here is the finished 200A.  I guess I'm just a tinkerer who cant sit still.  Always have to be working on something or taking things apart.

Hi, sorry, I didn't see this reply until today. Amateur Radio is a hobby I've been involved with for 30+ years. It's pretty much a hobby shared by many around the world. It requires a license by the government (which requires taking a test). You setup a radio station and talk with other amateur radio operators around the world (or locally too). There are many different facets you can get into. Some people collect, restore and operate vintage radios, some build their own, some strive to talk to every country available, some enjoy radio "contests", some even bounce radio signals off the moon and talk to others doing the same (which I've done!). You can use voice, morse code and other digital modes. It's a fascinating hobby that is still magic to me in many respects.

I have many interests and hobbies, but other than being the weirdo with more than one grill, the thing I'm most known for among friends and relatives is my passion for combat sports. I teach muay thai (kickboxing) on the side at a local gym in Elgin.

My plants are doing rough right now, Idk if the neighbor sprayed something, or the calcium is locked out of my soil. I had a bunch of bonnets I was gonna plant, and between all the rain we had, and t-ball, softball, and soccer, I let a couple hundred plants die in 3" pots.

I do know a guy in Illinois that started a giant organic farm. He should have some soon if not now. He's put a ton of work and a ton of money into his farm the last two years.

If you want some seeds, or live plants next season I can hook you up. If plants I would need to know what you wanted around January. Well seeds too cause you would need to start bonnets early

Oh and I'm about to go buy this Kirby at an estate sale this morning for 17.50. They wanted 35, so I'm hoping its still there for half price day. It was older than the ultimate g, but has the shampooer, and attachments.

Its a sentria, Idk if that's older or newer than the ultimate g. I cant remember when I wotked there, or when I bought a brand new one for 700 from a friend of a friend who worked at kirby, but that is the one I'm familiar with. It seems this one has the same shampooed and attachments, so I think its worth 17.50 for sure.

I wish I still had the little piece and filters they use for demos, so you can see how much dirt they pull after you already vaccumed with your current one

Yeah that's the Sentria I and it's newer than the ultimate G. You did really well with that price. I prefer the older non self propelled models. The motors don't run as high pitch for the tech-drive transmission and believe it or not they are much lighter than the new ones.

well, I've just joined the boat that rescues stray cats. we had one dart into our house cause it heard my wife put food down while the back door was open. poor thing was skin n bones and very very pregnant. no tattoo or chip when we had the vet check her out, so she's ours now. a gorgeous calico that vet says is less than 2 years old. she's due to have the kittens sometime this week, so I've been learning on cat midwifery, LoL!

Aside from my Webers, I would have to say my newest focus in welding. It started with a Lincoln arc welder, which turned out I couldn't use without running a new wire. I wanted 50 amps and I ony had a 30 amp dryer plug available. Then I had a project in mind for our WSM's, so I bought a mig welder with a spool gun to do aluminum, saw a guy using a plasma cutter in a youtube video, did some research and bought a plasma cutter, then saw a video for a tig welder, well those machines can also do stick welding, and all these can run on 30 amps, plasma and tig can also be run on 110 or 220,  so yea, I dove in whole hearted like I did with bbq's... have been tinkering around with all my new machines, and by NO means am I proficient... but its fun learning. My saying is "I didn't say I was a welder, I said I have a welder"...lol  Also like camping.

How are the hamfests in your area?  The reason I'm asking is I finally got to a point where I could begin outfitting a reasonably serious workshop at home and move up from the crappy Radio Shack soldering iron and Canadian Tire multimeters I've been using since high school and kept hearing and reading that hamfests are the place to go for 'the good stuff' at reasonable prices, so I went to a few.  They were almost a total dud.  I did pick up a decent RF signal generator and a couple of old vacuum tube receivers but other than that it was all junk.  By that, I mean destroyed chassis that were ready for the scrap metal bin being sold at high prices.  The person who sold me the signal generator said that nothing good ever sells at the hamfests.  I ended up having much better luck with ebay, kijiji, the Canadian government surplus auctions, and a couple of industrial surplus businesses.
