Title: "Walmart" Jumbo Joe 22 appreciation
Post by: LiquidOcelot on January 11, 2019, 09:17:39 AM
Not one most will agree with but being a weber product it should get some love too. Heres mine i just got. All the display models were loose and wobbled horribly. Now that i have one i know that they are actually pretty sturdy when put together Correctly. Mines going to be a roti spacific grill. I re worked the front handle to accommodate a tool holder handle, added my Tito's vodka handle to the lid, put an exaggerated bend into the lid hook to safely be held by the roti ring. Threw some clean white walls on it and im pretty happy how it is. I MAY ad a thermo but still un decided. But overall nothing like the original but if picked up cheaply not a bad deal.

I suppose these deserve some merit....

In my case, I appreciate the one that I rescued.
It came all the way from South Africa along with a Manturion Griddle.
Which is why I made the effort to rescue....

Never used it.  Quickly sold the compact, and, of course, kept the MG.

Nice. I'm sure that they cook some great food.

But they just have that "Dark Helmet" look.

What's the point of offering this kettle for Walmart?

Well i mean, walmart is a high traffic store that has a large veriery of weber clones. Its kinda smart or weber when you think about it,  put a $70 weber next to a $dollar grill masters grill 9 outta 10 with go for the name they have heard for years.

I like the idea.
Let us know how tight the leg attachment points stay. The higher center of gravity and the vibration of the rotisserie may affect them, or not!

So im gonna make this into a more of a ongoing review than an appriciation thread. Cooked some steaks tonight, trying to get rid of this lump i have. Got it up over 500 this picture was about 45 mins after closing the lid.
New pro (if you have a slow n sear)
Theres no grate straps , soo no near for an easy spin. But the charcoal grate is 4.25 inches from the cooking grate when a normal 22 is 5.5 inches from the cooking grate. Dont have a sns so havnt had time to look uo the measurement.
New con
The cooking grate is basically flush with the bowl rim so hanging the lid it hangs on the grate.

To be continued....
