It's that time of year again! 8) The 2019 WKC Calendar Photo Submission Contest is BACK!

We want to encourage people to take the time to select a kettle or kettles and plan out a small photo shoot! Show us what you've got and get creative!



Contest Guidelines:

Rule 1: No OLD cell-phone or tablet images please!  I need proper digital camera or high-quality phone pictures in order to make them useable for print.

You don't need a crazy Digital SLR camera (although that would be great!), just something better than a standard camera cell phone.

Rule 2: Images must be in Landscape format:

Rule 3: Image size must be at very least 1600x1200 pixels. Please use standard 4:3 Aspect!

Most proper camera's will easily take photos at this resolution, just be sure not to downsize the images when transferring them to your computer. The larger the filesize the better!

If you need some help with this shoot me a pm and I will do my best to explain further.

Rule 4: Please submit images via email to matt@weberkettleclub.com

I will post copies of the submissions in this thread so everyone can check out the entries as they come in.

It's as easy as that!

Shipping of the prizes will be covered within the mainland USA or Canada. Anything beyond that the winner will be given the option to pay the difference in shipping or a new winner will be selected.

This photo isn't 1600x1200 but it is the same aspect ratio. It is 4032x3024. Does that count? I can't resize it by the pixels on my phone, and you mentioned the larger the file size, the better. The file is also too large for the forums. Is this link OK? Please consider my submission as the photo in the link, NOT the preview in this post. (The WKC app shrinks the file size!)

The "Rules" at the start are more like guidelines ;)

The iPhone X has a nice camera but when you zoom down to fine details they usually cant hang with even a decent quality hand held camera. The issue is that when you go to actually print the photo you will see the slightly grainy detail as opposed to a crisp clear magazine like shot that we are striving for.

People are welcome to submit any kettle related image they like, but the ones that get chosen for the final print are usually the higher resolution shots. I always do my best to include any and all images people want to submit... For example if you have an amazing photo in portrait I will certainly try to crop it and save the image, but more times than not it just doesn't work out right.

No one needs a fancy camera. I take all my pics on a Samsung S7 and I had a pic selected for  each calendar last year. GL to everyone. I always enjoy seeing all the great grills and the places they end up.

Thanks Scott - it's really not that difficult guys!

I post all the details because over the years these are all questions that are asked and some like to have detailed specs. Yes some phones are capable of taking good images, but conditions need to be real good. Any hint of low light etc and it can ruin the images for print. Most handheld cameras will have better image stabilization etc etc so its more likely the person taking the shot will catch a good image.

Coles notes version:

small pictures = bad
large pictures = good
picture taller than it is wide = bad
pictures wider than they are tall = good

If you have a nice kettle related picture you think others would enjoy then please submit it!

Don't see this everyday. I know a lot of folks here on the Forum don't do Facebook.  Guy posted this photo today on the WKC Grill Giants Facebook page.  I messaged him, encouraging him to join the Forum and enter the photo for consideration.  Hell, Weber should be all over him to use it for promoting their Summit Charcoal. Living in Hawaii, he has a lot better odds than the rest of us catching a rainbow in a photo but what an amazing photo. I think it is calendar worthy.

That is all in the lighting from the sun. That is the "Limited Edition "Uline" Lime Green" I know it looks like the older darker green but I saw how it looked when the picture was taken and was like well let the sun do the work. This is a "AH" code SJ.

Thank you for all of the excellent entries everyone. We received some really amazing shots this year so I am looking forward to the final cut!

Please give me a few days to make the final selections and to announce the winners. Anyone who has their photo selected for use in the calendar will be entered into a draw and is guaranteed to win a prize pack. Names will be drawn to determine prize selection order - 1st name out picks first, 2nd name second etc etc. until each person has their prize.
