Title: Fishing for appetizers
Post by: blksabbath on September 05, 2018, 02:40:41 PM
I'm going out this weekend with my dads buddies to slay some bass on table rock lake.  Last year I was the new guy and just made a bunch of wings which were very well received.  So well it was suggested that I do it again.  But I want to add to it since it's three nights.  What other appetizers should I get in the mix?  Only thing is I really want them prepped and vacuum packed to just throw on.  ATBs would be good.  Any other ones that don't require a bunch of prep?

Onion slices wrapped in bacon. I do those here a lot, they're really good and real easy to throw together

Grilled Bacon is always a treat, so are stuffed mushrooms.

You could make up some skewers. I cut up pork loin and skewer on bamboo and put them in a gallon ziplock and add a teriyaki marinade. Then put the bags in a plastic container. Prep can be done at home and then you just grill em up when you want them.

Bacon wrapped meatballs.  I use spaghetti instead of toothpicks.

Ended up making wings rubbed with Penzy's Galena Street rub then tossed with traditional buffalo sauce.  Then bacon wrapped jalapeƱos stuffed with smoked Gouda and a little Smokey.

The guys were blown away that you can  actually "cook" food on a charcoal grill, not just burn the crap out of it.  The chimney was a novel concept as well.  There were doubts of how I'd get by without lighter fluid.  Anyways, it was fun.

Fishing wasn't the best, but I caught a really nice 17" smallmouth.

Pound for pound, those bronze smallies are the hardest fighting fish.  They dig and dig and don't give up.

No doubt.  That was my biggest fish yet on a fly rod.
