Hello! Just registered to WKC so I could share my first woodworking project and see what you think.
Saw a lot of those grill carts online and thought I'd give it a shot at building one myself.
After buying some power and hand tools and watching hundreds of youtube videos on learning some woodworking tips & tricks I started designing on Sketchup and then got to work in my garage.
Here's the result.

Damn ! And you say this is your first project like this !!!
That is super nice ! You even have the beer opener on it. It looks fantastic.
The only thing I would do differently is next time wipe the stain on WITH the grain of the wood.

I guess my mistake here was that before staining I sanded only with 80 grit and forgot to do another sanding with 220, hence the "scratch" look... The 80 grit was too coarse.
Thanks for your comments! A few friends have mentioned to make another one to see if it sells locally.
Will probably give it a try!
I wonder how long it lasts before you pull the SJ out and place a 18" in it... then take that out for a 22"

I'll have to start thinking how to get those to fit!

that is waaaay to nice to use! Send it to me immediately for safe keeping. :D :D :D
To much work for a Smokey Joe. Toss a 22.5 in the hole and save the SJ to light your chimney or heat up a grilled cheese.

Lol, I agree...
Made this one as a gift to my father who is a big fan of the SJ which is more than enough for his grilling needs.
By the way, I'm looking to build one for my 22.5!
I got you. Nice job with the wood work. Maybe could make 2 inserts that would alter the hole so you could mount a 22.5 or and 18 depending on what you need SS would work. May have look at this again for a winter project. Thanks for sharing.
