I planned to write a blog on this as it was very eventful but now that I am home from work hours later just going to give some highlights.
Looked at this estate sale just because it started today

Saw a yellow bowl on the ground with a lid near by and immediately jumped in my rescue vehicle. Upon arrival I could not find the grill outside the house in the bushes like shown in the picture. After circling a couple times I spotted the grill over the fence in a scrap pile. These photos are from my phone the original auction photo has been removed even though the grill is seen in a couple of the others.

At first they told me it was not for sale but after speaking to the auction boss and a phone call it was mine.

The lid is in good shape but the bowl may exceed my restoration skills. It has a dent and is missing two of the leg sockets. Here it is waiting while I looked around. Just got the bowl and lid, found a junky grate in the pile but left it behind. This is a nice picture under an overcast sky.

Nice rescue! Any idea how old it is?
I have an extra leg socket. Is there still metal where it once was? Pm me.
that is SWEET!
Man I want a yellow bad!
oh, I can get you leg sockets too (black)
It is dark and rainy here so it's still in the truck. No date code, patent number. There are two or three holes where each socket used to be and the bottom vents are stuck.
Oh, congrats on the nice save, btw!
Seeing an ad, circling the block, sneaking around and snapping pictures and even calling the auction boss! You are in the final stages my friend. :-\ ......................................... :P
Awesome save! No doubt that yellow was headed for the dump! We can rebuild it, we have the technology. :D
Awesome save, that one was waiting in line for the scrapyard. My first thought was to patch the existing holes in the bottom and figure out a way to mount it in a cart Sequoia style. That would block off getting to see the awesome color change though.
If you used black sockets one option to cover them would be to use some aluminum tubing that would fit over the socket and would be held in place with a small set screw. It wouldn't look stock but if it matched the leg colors it would look like one long leg from a distance??

Great save! Since it was in the scrap pile, Free? You can make it happen.
