Title: B Code Charcoal GA
Post by: Cellar2ful on June 24, 2018, 03:22:42 PM

Saw a charcoal GA on CL yesterday that had wood handles.  Made contact with the seller and arranged a pickup today with the intention of using the handles for a kettle I'm restoring.  Guess I didn't look closely at the add photo.

@Craig  -  What was the first year Weber produced the Go Anywhere Charcoal grill?

I believe that 1979 or A code was the first year of the go anywhere. But Craig would know better. Nice pickup.

Great find. I love the stubby legged GAs.

@kneab is correct. 1979 was the first year.

That's cool.
79 was first year A code, since you have code B you have short leg version where the grill sits lower than late 81' year to current GA's
I'll take that GA if willing to "catch and release"

@Cellar2ful

Hey Jim, I think if you clean off all the dirt and grime, it might actually be a Red GA..
Lol..

Had to go back and look at the add photo.  Now I see why I missed that it had two rivet wood handles.

Also found the WKC Grill History link for GA's.  @Kneab  &  @Neil_VT00  are correct.  1979 Weber introduced the charcoal Go-Anywhere.

What are the odds that another two rivet handle GA would show up on CL in one week?  The add popped up Monday, one day after I picked up the first one. Picked it up today.  She and her husband bought it new in 1980, paying $70 for it.  This one is going to a local grillfella that texted me he was "on it".  He was really bummed when I told him I had already made contact and arranged a pick up.
