Title: Candied bacon knots
Post by: effinUker on June 17, 2018, 04:56:01 PM
So I seem to have started something with my candied bacon knots. They're stupid simple.

1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 package of bacon

I mixed the sugar and cinnamon together in a large bowl. I pulled the bacon strips and dropped them all into bowl, one at a time. Using my hands, I tossed the bacon through the sugar until everything was coated and there was no loose sugar in the bowl.

Next I tied them in knots. You just loop the bacon around itself until it's a all wrapped up in a nice even circle.

I cooked them on a raised grate over my ribs for about 1 1/2 hours until they were done.

I've added vanilla to the sugar once, and added orange zest to it once. All winners.

I think I just found a new bacon appetizer for...well...anytime!

I'll definitely keep this one under my hat.

Thanks for sharing!

I do them all the time without sugar too. Tie up a pound of bacon & cook it til its done. Nothing better, and they seem to go over really well.

Looks next-level.

But I might need a better visual of how they get tied together. Like, twisted / braided until the end and then tied together in a knot?

I will try to do a vid next time I make them but really it's not that hard. Take that bacon, stretch it a little, and start to tie a knot at one end, but instead of pulling it tight, take that long end and wrap it thru the hole again, just keep wrapping the loose ends until it's a circle.

Nice!  Glad you enjoyed them. We like them naked too, just plain old bacon.
