Title: Grilling a Lobster??
Post by: indy82z on May 10, 2018, 03:28:14 PM
Found a whole Lobster in my freezer. I have not ever grilled one of these. Anyone done it and have suggestions? Figure it can't be that hard..

Thanks

Tom

Hi, I'm around lobster just about every day. I grill using charcoal more days out of the year than not and most of those days are at my lobster dock where I'm around lobster.

Despite most people who ask me if I'm sick of eating lobster, that's not true, I love it.

I have access to eating freshly caught inexpensive lobster in season every day.

After reading all that you'd think I must grill lobster often but IMO lobsters should be steamed, not grilled.

When you eat lobster you want them juicy and succulent and the juices running down your chin, not dried out.

So when I cook lobster it's either boiled or steamed and more times than not in a lobster roll.

Here are some lobster roll rantings from my blogs (we take our lobster rolls serious)

I am not an expert in Lobster like Joe, but have grilled whole lobsters many times. Steaming when I need to get them done quick. Both ways turn out great for me.

I'm sure they come out great. It's actually pretty strange when you factor in all the above that I don't grill them

Sounds like we found the challenge for the upcoming NE WKC meet! Personally, I find grilled lobster delicious. But different than steamed/grilled for sure.

Can you explain your process...I am hoping to attempt this today. Otherwise I am going to throw it in a pot as it is going to rain for the next week and dont want it hanging around that long.

I just throw them whole on the grill.  Other times, cut in half and some butter to grill. Nothing too fancy.
