Sooooo.... been going back and forth about cleaning up/restoring my DT kettle or buying a new kettle for some time now...
(YES! The one that was washed in the bathtub for those of you wondering)
So last night decided....
I'm gonna restore the DT kettle, so last night went online ordered all the parts to do the restore, went to the store this morning to get the emory cloth, steel wool, and metal polish...
Walked in, PURPOSELY steered clear of all the grill stuff so I didn't go nuts and buy everything today that could wait, (new grate, charcoal bins etc)...
But....
Didn't even make it to the aisle, and there it was, exactly what I was trying to avoid...
The red limited edition, marked down from $199 to $99, the cold sweats started, knees and feet locked up, and then I heard it... "can I help you find something??"
SHIT!!!!
"Do you have any of these left??"
"Let me check..." says the director of the department.... he goes, comes back 15 minutes later, "it says we have three but I can't seem to locate any of them..."
PHEW!!!!
"Ok thanks..."
Start to walk away...
"I can make you a deal on this one...
FUCK!!!!
I turn around... "yeah? Like what??
He looks it over, "this nut is missing, this handle is loose, I'll take $30 off"
"SOLD!!!!!"
Couldn't get the fuck out of the store fast enough!!!!
So, new kettle, w box, missing nut IN box, $76 dollars and change!!!!
Days over!!! Im out!!! That's game!!!
I'm going to bed!!!!
So now all I have to do is figure out how to break this bad boy in!!!
Any tips/tricks guys???!!!
Any seasoning ?? Conditioning??

Have mercy ... I've been there, brother. I try to visit such stores with one or both children, so that when they see Dad in Catatonic Mode, their incessant nagging slaps me away from whatever charcoal-related bauble has caught my eye. I get back at them by dragging them around the state in search of old Webers.

Haha —they got you,,,I bought at $99. Was at my local HD yesterday and they have one left assembled—thought about showing them that other stores are selling at $75 now and then point out that this one has scratches and fingerprints all over it plus they need to get rid of the last one so I'll give you $50 for it as is....not sure what I would do with another grill though.

I don't really season. Just a full chimney spread out, do a quick burn in and its on like Donkey Kong!!!
Do up some chicken or brats. Get a little grease goin' to seal her up and Its off to the races!!! Be sure to post up some pics of the RRR on the DT next to the new LE!!!
