Picked up my 1st ever smokey mountain! Cleaned up good, still need to detail a bit more
Never thought I would consider a WSM but here it is.
DR date code 2006.
Does this model require a bottom heat shield?
Also are the air vent dampers sold separately?

To answer your questions:
You don't need a heat shield. I believe they were introduced in 2009. As long as you aren't cooking on a wooden deck, no need to worry.
