My first ever restore. Did this one to get some practice in advance of working on my "pat pending" birth year red head. Definitely learned some things... especially related to use of a Dremmel tool. That tool can be a good friend if you use it right. Need lower parts for 69-70 22" pat pending - legs, wheels and triangle.
Awesome restore! Can you share how you stored the handle? It looks amazing.
Sure. I took it off, "sanded" it down with a dremmel brush tool, stained it, and urethaned it... that's it.
I had a lot of success with that dremmel on many fronts. I think that tool is a restorer's best friend.

Thanks. I have been hand sanding mine. I don't know why I didn't think you use my dremmel.

How did you clean up the ash pan? Did you use a dremel also? It looks really great!

It took me awhile. I started with a dremmel and a hard sanding wheel to get the thick corrosion off and then polished with those products linked above. I spent the most amount of time in the ash pan.
