Title: Winter Hibernation
Post by: CatskillSmoker on November 27, 2017, 09:55:06 AM
Been working on the barn putting in new rough cut 3" x 8" x 10' floor joist and 3/4 ply for flooring.Trying to get ready for the oncoming Winter. This is the upstairs section of just a portion of the barn. This area is  roughly 20 x 40. Old joists and floor were getting bad. Right now I have 15 cleaned and stored, more to come. I will get better pictures as my cellphone just doesn't cut it.Barn is from the 1880s. Stay tuned.

That's going to be sweet. Glad we don't have to go through all that here in FL though. I couldn't imagine.

Yeah, @Rub, you just have to contend with the occasional hurricane....  ;)

The seasons as we know it in the northern half of the country:

Almost winter, winter, still winter, summer

When I was in metro ATL:

Summer, More Summer, Not Really Fall, Summer

And the thing is, it's not actually "hotter" in Hotlanta compared to the Midwest. Just more days that are warm.

CatskillSmoker that is some sweet kettle storage you'll have there.

That's some great storage space.  Nice work on the build out.

Barn flooring finished. Now its time to put all of them together for a family photo.
Lighting sucks in that part of the barn. Will see what I can work out.
Hopefully next week when we get out of the Arctic blast we've been having.
Escaped the NorEaster with only 1 inch of snow

Wow looks like you have a 10,000 sq ft barn. You better get busy  and find more kettles

The Black SSP kettle is in the corner in the picture sitting on the Red Mist.
That frame and the extra frame I have waiting for the grey SSP kettle from @Shoestringshop are being compounded and waxed. Have threaded rod for both frames and one needs a little welding.
Once the weather warms I will definitely get them together for a photo.
Now who's got my Brown SSP?

Was looking at the picture on my phone.  Now that I am on my computer I see the other (non plum) SSPs.

Knowing your skills, I give it 3 weeks!

Wow. Amazing barn! I write this from my 12X20 workshop! The only advantage is that it's easy to heat!

I'm reading this in my 8x10 shed workshop filled with tools and charcoal.

Missing about 15-20 in the photo. SJs are in the house, some in boxes, and waiting for 1 from Agent.

Sweet barn and nice collection!! I have a 20'x20' heated workshop and a 10'x10' shed but hardly any room for kettles. Just kids toys. EVERYWHERE

Going to need to change the way we think about a "Barn Find" Grill going forward.  Great job on the barn and collection.
