So some of you may know that I have an old avacado grill from the early 70's. Its pretty close to perfect except for a couple chips on the lid. I had been talking to Stu (G) and he mentioned that e-Replacements are showing inventory on a lid with the color of "avacado". I checked into their return policy and its like 45 days with free shipping back. So what the heck, I ordered one. So what came to me is NOT the vintage avacado color we are used to. Instead, I'm almost positive its what some of us are calling "sage". As you can see...its MUCH lighter and without the two-tone of the original avacado grill lid. I'm not sure what I'm doing with it yet, I am going to look further to see if a matching bowl might be available...it would be a cool 22" kettle in this color. e-Replacement shows no inventory on their "avacado" bowl...but they do show one called "sage" as being available. If anyone has a sage platinum with a rough lid...feel free to contact me.

This lid makes you wonder what else Weber really has laying around in the warehouse. And by the way...if you try and go thru Weber to purchase odd ball colors like this(if they are even available...you better be prepared for lots of questions and photos to prove you have what you want to order to replace the original! Also...do your homework on what part numbers you need. Weber CS really isnt that good with finding anything outside the norm.
That would be cool to make a standard kettle out of. I knew it was close to the original 'cados but not exactly.
I find it interesting they would call it avacado. It's definitly the newer sage. Weber also made an old sage that was closer to the grass green. I would keep that Jeff.
with a little photoshop, you could have a damaged OTG or performer in that same color.
just sayin.
I'd love to have a bowl to match it.
Supposedly they offer a 'sage' bowl. But I wonder what color it really is. Only way to know for sure is to order one

I think there is a couple more.. I've seen a dark green and a grass green. 8)
I wonder if it will get darker after you heat it up a few times?
This thread is pretty awesome. Thanks Jeff.
I keep lookign at the second picture. It actually looks perfect. (I am sure that is a function of lighting and the photograp, but I am just shocked how good the two different colors look in that shot)
Just for comparisons sake here's mine

Isn't the color Jeff and I have actually referred to as " Mediterranean " ?
Nope, at least not according the the 1967 product guide. The color is Avocado. The 18" avocado kettle is "the Mediterranean" (the 22" is Caribbean)
Thanks for the clarification.
Frost green?
