Title: Saved this one from the scrap yard!
Post by: Dc_smoke309 on July 23, 2017, 09:39:09 AM
A guy here in my home town does a lot of scrapping . This morning my wife had been hinting that she would like to get a gas grill for her to use . ( and she normally does not like my low and slow method of charcoal cooking which is how I cook everything  !!! )  she says it takes way to long .... any who , drove past the guys house today and here is this little Weber gas grill. I called him and of course over the years I have contributed to his "junk" pile . He said go for it .   Was thinking it probably didn't work....

Got home unloaded it . Threw a propane tank on . Boom fires right up . Now I'm getting excited ! I hosed it off quick just to wash the 20 piles of bird poo off it .  Now I know more info on charcoal grills as far as how to figure out the age..... on this one I'm at a loss. Maybe a few of u nice fellas could shine some light on the age of this .  Good scrubbing and this will look like new! @Dc_smoke309 , to date these you darn near need to be a contortionist, there should be a sticker up under the control panel that will have info on it.

It's a Genesis Silver A NG from 2002-2003.  Silver denotes the trim, in this case, a Black enameled lid.   "A" denotes that it's the 2 burner model.   Silver A's were made from 2000 - 2005/6.    2000-2001 models had a central cross bar on the bottom frame.  From  2002-2004, there was no crossbar, just a full wire shelf like yours.   But, 2002-2003's had the straight handle, in 2004 - 2006, a curved handle was used.  Also, 2003 was the last year they used those smaller knobs.

Awesome find!  I like these older Gasser's a lot for their compact and simple design.
