Title: (SPLIT FROM NO EXPLANATION) - Lost Aussie Kettles FOUND
Post by: dazzo on July 18, 2017, 06:30:54 AM
MOD NOTE FOR CLARITY:
This is a split from the no explanation thread.
Some crazy coincidences and stellar observation skills at work here!!

QuoteThose avocado green painted whitewalls look familiar...... someone on here had those wheels on an avocado 18 some time back. Still, a nice blue 18!

I know I did it a few years ago, but why would someone separate them from the grill?

That is funny.  I wonder what happened to the avocado.  I am going to put period correct wheels on the blue.

That blue 18 and red jj look familiar
Like the package that didn't make it to Australia a few years ago
It was supposedly still in a warehouse in west coast
With a yellow and a heap of other stuff
@kendoll

@harris92
How did you aquire these?
Blue 18 mbh and red jj
Apparently only 2 weeks ago @kendoll was emailing the warehouse in regards to our package
These 2 are mine and Kendoll had an 18 yellow amongst other things
Lego and the one the only handles some rubs
Would be great if you could tell us how you came across them
Thanks
Golly

Interesting info. I bought both on EBay a few days ago. The blue was on Saturday and the other on Sunday.

@Golly @Troy

I am going to ad another twist to the story.  I thought I recognized the 18" blue (and I do).  I purchased the 18 blue from Shaun (Duke) in May 2013.  It had the original wheels at the time.  About a month or two later,  Shaun asked for the grill back.  So, I sent it back.  I don't recall whether I sold it or traded it to him.  Shaun used the blue grill to make a Traveler.  I lost track of it after that.  This explains the replacement wheels.

FYI, the red jumbo joe was sold on EBay without the hardware and both grates.

Oh man this is pretty wild. What are the odds? That blue 18 is very cool. I didn't even know there was such a beast. Now I've got to add to my must have list :)

So dow e think these grills got held up in customs and eventually a salvage company got them?
And then someone decided to sell on ebay?
@harris92
Was it the same seller on eBay?
@Golly
You guys been fighting with a warehouse for over 4 years?
This is so crazy!
That blue 18 is a one of a kind!

@Heyjude

I asked the eBay seller.  Apparently he is not part of the warehouse or the deal.  He picked up (purchased) the items (don't know exactly when).  He knows part of the story -  these were items that never shipped to their destination.  My guess is there may have been a liquidation sale.  I did see a nice yellow for sale on Clist in the same area not too long ago.

Travels of the 18" Blue

2012/2013 - Stu picked up the grill in Wisconsin
2013 - Stu sold the grill to Shaun
2013 - Shaun sold the grill to me
2013 - I sold  the grill to Shaun
2013 - Grill sold to Golly
2017 - Grill sold on eBay

For clarification, so people don't make innaccurate assumptions

2012/2013 - Stu picked up the grill in Wisconsin
2013 - Stu sold the grill to Shaun
2013 - Shaun sold the grill to Harris
2013 - Harris sold  the grill to Shaun
2013 - Grill sold to Golly, shipped to california (to be grouped into a larger package destined for Australia)
2014 - grill re-packed (by Troy) (along with multiple other grills and accessories), shipped to freight company in LA
2014 - freight company locked down in legal dispute - all assets siezed
2017 - Grill sold on eBay

That seller would have a yellow 18, a few zavod handles, several shakers of rubs, several WKC t-shirts, a corn'n'tator ring or a shish ring (can't remember, as it was the only part I didn't have to repackage), a bunch of skewers, and a stack of wkc stickers.

Just as an FYI, the eBay seller told me today the company went out of business.  ALL assets were liquidated.  The eBay seller indicated he was helping them sell off some inventory.

Also, there is a shish set on eBay today.  Seller is located in California.

Was the shipment insured? Was a claim ever filed when it was first "lost"? If the shipper went belly up, I'm not sure "assets" would include in-transit items. They would not be able to sell off things they don't own would they? I recall the whole sad story, and it would be cool for the OZ boyz to get some or all of this back. Better call Saul...
Title: Re: (SPLIT FROM NO EXPLANATION) - Lost Aussie Kettles FOUND
Post by: Golly on July 19, 2017, 12:03:29 PM
We were told we could either claim insurance or wait for the dispute to end
We had a lawyer look at the details
We decided to wait it out
Kendoll has been in email conversations with the shipping company and they said they will hold everything as we haven't accepted insurance value as we under valued  the package to avoid import taxes and gst
@kendoll can we get a total list together of what was in the shipment
I'm thinking the lawyer might get a call soon to see where we stand

So where are the grills currently?
Did someone agent for @harris92 ?
Did the seller ship these to GA?

Sadly, the shipment never left the freight company's address.
They were combining the packages I shipped them with another package from another agent into a pallet bound for Australia.
I think everything got seized before the pallet was assembled.

This whole thing is just crazy to read!  My brother @Bob BQ was telling me about this lost Australian shipment, almost seemed like lore!  Wild that all this stuff is turning up and connections are being made!  Hopefully this has a great conclusion for our Australian friends!

It doesn't clear up anything when both you and @harris92  both say "I" and "Me." But that doesn't matter - the shippers went under, the goods ended up on Ebay.

What is incredible to me is that someone recognized the wheels on a kettle. "Hey - I've seen those wheels before!" "Years ago!"

Awesome work @harris92. Have to laugh, I bought a bunch of rubs hoping they would make it here for my daughters 2nd birthday party. She's nearly 6 now lol. Bet they're slightly out of date now.
