Old Crow bourbon barrel filled on February 27, 1957.
that's a cool barrel , my first thought was what's he building ? a table ? a smoker ? a cooler ? ?? lol .i'd have trouble burning it , but on the other hand , whoa wonder what would taste like . worth a trip to the butcher .
Nice! How do you find an oak barrel

Nice score Darko!
@selfservebrewer gifted me a nice pile of chunks from a barrel very similar to that one. Completely filled three milk crates! So far, my favorite chunk to use in the pizza oven, by far.

You should have at least one stave made into wood handles. 😀
With my luck, if I found such a barrel it wouldn't have held Old Crow bourbon, but Mount Olive pickles.

It belonged to my late uncle. I didn't even know the barrels were still around. He used to make wine & had these in the cold cellar. He probably stopped making wine in the late 80's early 90's and I assumed that he, like my dad got rid of all the winemaking gear. Well, my aunt passed away in December and back in March, I was helping my cousin clean up the house when I noticed that the barrels were still there. I asked if I could have them.
Any lids from '56?
