Title: Rib rack, modified
Post by: Joetee on May 13, 2017, 11:16:31 AM
Ok so I fixed some ribs. 3 Long rib racks which don't fit in a 22 inch kettle.

What I did was to get 2 of these.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170513/2c4498c76b8fa3957f88394efdb9194a.jpg)

And cut the side of one to allow them to slide together like this.

Worked like a charm and I have room between the racks for hot gases to cook evenly.

I noticed those in your original post about the rib cook and wondered.  I've never use a rib rack because I've got a big WSM and do most of my cooking on a 26er.  I like how you added the "shield."

Yes I added the shield or would have had the meat side by side. I thought it would help. Which it really did. All 3 racks were cooked evenly. Didn't move them at all for 5 1/2 hrs.
I sat the steel racks side by side and just cut i think 6 cuts to allow the two to merge together. Those rib racks were I know 21 inches long. I didn't think one steel rack would of held them up well. Anyway the two of them are expandable. Slide in and out.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170514/a94a620c7908f933368343fef445d22e.jpg)
