Good on you for being willing to use your valuable time and barbecue skills to cook that chunk of meat, on that beautiful kettle.
We will be with you in spirit through your difficult journey. Soldier on, good sir!
I need more information please. Is that a rib roast? Is that a fully lit ring of coal? Looks like it's going to be great.

Nothing better than to combine cast iron cooks with kettle cooking. Just goes hand in hand. Plus the Mrs. Appreciates not using her stuff.

Very nice pics and use of the cast iron.
I also like the idea of using the CI as a drip pan. Never saw that before. You probably don't get as much loss of dripping as you would with a aluminum tin.
Next brisket I think I will try that to catch the juices with a cast iron pan and then use those drippings when I wrap.
I still don't have a Weber, but being on this forum is making me appreciate them more and wanting one. You guys do some amazing cooks with them.

@JEBIV
I cooked it about 2 hrs and rested for 15.
@1buckie @clarissa it was a little overdone for me and my wife but I was trying to please my 4 others guests. I cut theirs of the ends and mine and my wife's out of the center. It was still good
@JEBIV Nice cook! Is that a Wood Dale? I see the ash pan with the clips...just curious.
@1buckie on that second pic, I really like that CI grate...where is that from? I don't really want Grill Grates, but I think a set up like what you have there with CI would be pretty sweet.
@crowderjd no pre pat pend Aristocrat original ash pan
NICE...I thought it was an Aristocrat, but the clips had me confused, as I thought those only came with Wood Dales, and I didn't think any Aristocrats were made during the Wood Dale era...I also have a pre-patent pending Aristocrat...however it didn't come with an ash pan. What I do find interesting is that I also have a Wood Dale Fleetwood, but it does NOT have the clip ash pan, it has a flat edged ash pan which I'm pretty sure was original.
