Title: My first Weber
Post by: chas1723 on April 28, 2017, 10:36:25 AM
I just got my first Weber grill. Any tips for breaking it in would be greatly appreciated. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170428/ca8cbe1d22461633bbaca75153f9dc62.jpg)

You will love it. You can slow cook, indirect cook, smoke, and high heat...just about anything a guy needs. I would cook something like chicken or burgers the first time or two just to get the feel of it

If you haven't done so I'd light a full chimney and fill those new baskets up. This will burn off the "factory" and give you a chance to play with the vents. Start wide open, then go to half then 1/4. You'll see the temp change and get a feel for how it cooks. Then get cooking. Welcome aboard!

Hello and welcome! Beautiful kettle.  Fire up a half full chimney of charcoal without any food to burn in first. Or full chimney... let it heat up for 30-45 min before cooking. Have both vents wide open for that initial burn in to get rid of manufacturing oil and other impurities inside and oil/clean the cooking grate before using.
