Title: SSP Question
Post by: SteveZ on April 26, 2017, 10:27:29 AM
I have a 1999 SSP as my daily cooker. I am rehabbing a 1996 SSP. I tried to hang my 5lb tank on the 96 and found the top bracket is about 1/2 inch shorter on the 96 than on the 99. Did they change the 5lb tank during these years?

@SteveZ - I've still got the original tank to my '91 performer, and several tanks from newer SSP's... I can take a look when I get home. Does the tank have a date stamped on it anywhere?

@Bob BQ - I really don't have a tank for this one yet! The project is still in the rebuild stage. Got the frame done but am still looking for a kettle to mount in it. I was just surprised that the 5lb tank mounting was different between 96 and 99.

@SteveZ   so it's the bracket that holds the tank you're questioning?

ER/1996 code bracket (exact same bracket as my N/1991 SSP) placed next to a a mounted DD/2000 bracket. Bad angle on the pics makes it kind of hard to tell, but they are definitely even. You can see the slight differences in the style of the bracket on the first pic.
