We were out at a local Flea Market today and a vendor demoed a product we never saw before. Here is a pic. Has anyone used this? We didn't have time to test it out today but will shortly. The guy used just one packet to light a chimney

1 packet to light a chimney...What is the cost of that?
We got 25 packets for $9.99. Here is a link to the product website

It looks kind of like the weber cubes?
I just use newspaper myself..
I use newspaper too, but we got hooked when the guy dipped it in a bowl of water then lit the pak. This will be great when we go on picnics. And we like that it does not affect the food. Was never fond of most coal lighting products.

went to amazon, video convinced me to buy a 50 pack... mostly for fires in my Weber firepit!! Thanks
@clarissa , and welcome!
They are a great backup starter. When we brought our grill out of the shed last week I had to scrounge around for paper to use. We had put everything out to recycle the day before. I usually keep a batch right in the Kingston bag so it is handy.

It is interesting that my hubby grew up in a family that used lighter fluid and my family used a chimney and paper until we went to gas models.

I grew up with "Wizard" lighter fluid. Then my dad started using gasoline, THATS fun to light. But I have moved from fluid to Webers lighter cubes...These pouches will be interesting to try.

I keep some scratch in the bag too......
What happens here, if no paper in the bag, pieces of the bag start getting torn off !!!!
First time using this. One QuickFire with half a chimney after about 7 minutes

And after about 15 minutes separated into coal holders

This was the quickest minimal smoke lite we ever did. Ham is on cooking away now

I've never seen them. Interesting. When I'm home grilling, I always use my weed burner to lite my coals. When I'm away from home with my grill, I use a can of Sterno under the chimney. Works grate.
Seems expensive.
I've been on a weber lighter cube kick. They have really spoiled me compared to using newspaper. I dropped one in some water the other day and still lit right up.

me too. not a fan of all the newspaper remnants flying around and sticking to the sides of the bowl. At $4 a package on sale I can live with .1666 cens per cook for a cube.

I learned the Sterno trick from the Slap Yo Daddy BBQ team when I was competing. Once the coals get going, move the chimney and re-lid the Sterno. Reuse is amazingly cheap.
We are super pleased with these quick start lighters. It just takes one to light our chimney and very little smoke. The paper made a big smoke screen, and we live in a townhouse, so this is much more neighbor friendly. We get nice hot coals very quickly and have been grilling more frequently because of the convenience.
