Title: Kingsford marketing out of control?
Post by: HankB on March 19, 2017, 06:11:21 PM
I was at a local grocery (Ultra) and saw charcoal listed in one of the aisles so I cruised down that aisle as I headed toward the checkout registers. This is what I spotted.

I fogot to resize/crop pictures of "Professional" (Comp, I presume) and Mesquite.

I'm curious about the 'lump briquets' and 'long burning.' Has anyone tried them and noticed any benefit?

The flavored ones (hickory, mesquite etc.) interest me less as I have a pretty good collection of smoking wood. Easy enough to collect apple, hickory and a few others locally. Oak too.

Thanks!

We get all these at my local grocery store.  But I tried the lump briquettes, didn't notice anything better or worse about it

My local Sprout's stocks the "lump briquettes" and charge $16.99 a bag...YIKES! I bought a bag, when they were on sale for $10. They did seem to produce a bit less ash and burned very well. I might buy another bag, at the $10 price, but not at full retail.

I really like the mesquite.  They burn hotter and smells fantastic. 🏻
