Only had the grommet for a year never had the balls to drill into my WSM.
But I'm just getting ready to smoke a big brisket, so I figured I go for it..
no big deal..,

Looks good and it's on the side Weber should have put it on!  I mentioned it to customer service before and they said they've heard it from a few people already. This side allows you to set things on a performer table.

Nice. Did your wsm already have one on the other side or none at all?  I looked into buying a grommet but they are proud of those. A little pricey for me. At least last time I checked.

No my WSM is a 2006 no grommet.. I am so glad I did it.. 11:4 inch hole.
3.5 inchs from the middle of the top screw and 3.5 fro the edge of the door.. I did bot my 22's.. cost me like 9.00$ from Weber. They said if I drilled the hole I would void my
Warranty.. I'm bad!!!

Great looking brisket. What size hole did you drill?

Thanks for the tip. Drilled mine yesterday. I was surprised how strong the steel was.  The grommet is a great upgrade!

👏👏👏 Its about time you finally drilled that hole. Adding OEM grommets, thermometers and lid vent handles can only help in the grilling/smoking process. Congrats.
