Title: Slow cooker
Post by: HoosierKettle on December 19, 2016, 09:20:43 AM
Anyone else use a nesco?  I almost never use a crock pot anymore. Today I'm sick with a cold and wanted a stew/roast. I use a hand me down 12ct nesco from the 80's. If you haven't used one they are fantastic for temperature control. It will go from warm to 500 degrees so you can quickly speed up a cook or slow it down. I like it much better then the standard 3 setting crock pot. The 12ct size is great for parties as well. I use it to make large batches of chili and gumbo.

There is a couple chuck roasts in there somewhere.

Thanks. Still feel like crap but the stew turned out good. As the BBQ pit boys would say "through the miracle of time"

I guess it wasn't that photogenic but it tastes good.

There are situations that call for easy, not much involvement required cooking and being under the weather's definitely one of them.  The finished stew looks good and hearty.  I hope you fight that cold off soon!
