Title: Does anyone sell these side attatchment thingies or know what they're called?

Pardon my ignorance but I'm not even sure what they're called- the thing that clips on the side of the kettle and can hold a beer or Maverick 732?

This from A Post On WKC-

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I think it's called a spice rack.

It is called a spice rack and they are long discontinued by Weber.

Condiment holder. Weber part # was 21301. You might find one somewhere out there.

They are generally pricey when the pop up on ebay.  It seems like most of them that have been acquired by people here have been accidental....came with a use grill where the seller didn't know that the spice rack has more value than the used kettle they are selling.  I'm still searching for one!

The was or may be a red kettle for sale here in the Chicagoland area that had one that was pictured on the grill so I assume it came with it.  Not sure if its still out there though.

The guy at the grill shop said he put a bunch in the huge discount bin because he had them on the shelf for years and no one bought them.  I asked what he sold them for and he said he thought he sold them for a couple bucks each.  I wanted to puke

I'd be afraid that anything you put in the rack would get extremely hot, being that close to the kettle.

I've never had a problem with this rack getting hot. I've used it numerous times with my Maverick-732 unit, BBQ sauces and spray bottles with zero heat related problems. Beer isn't there long enough to be effected.  LOL

@EricD - They wouldn't have sold it if it was problem, however along with that, keep in mind things like the vortex, kettle pizza, and slow-n-sear weren't around back them so I would use discretion if you are doing a high heat cook that might not have been a thing 30 years ago.  If you look at all of the DIY grill tables people have done with wood, it seems like once you are 1/2-1 inch away from the grill you are all good.  I'd imagine since the heat rises it tends to go straight up the side of the kettle more so than radiating outwards.

@Scott Zee, Good to know thanks!
@MikeRocksTheRed, Good point, but there's got to be a reason it's been discontinued.

I've done wings and needed gloves to take the lid off.  Next cook I'm going to pay extra attention to how hot the sides get!

In my opinion you should always use a BBQ glove with a kettle. Common sense. If people weren't complaining and burning their hands then we might still have welded handles instead of the taco handle. The heat rises and the handle is hot almost every cook. Maybe they didn't sell enough of these units? They did sell side tables for OTS and OTG and perhaps folks thought they were more useful.

Warning. Your beer will get way too warm when rested on a spice rack.

Does anyone actually leave beer in the can? I thought it was an empty rack.

I picked up one here about 3 years ago. It goes well with my red and is the most used accessory whenever I cook. Once you get one you'll wonder how you went by without it.

As a huge fan of the Performer Line, the reason I like them so much is for the functionality.  The table for being able to set things down and the storage bin.  The Performers I have I hate to leave down the dock because shit gets destroyed with the saltwater hoses spraying everything down and the salt water in the air in general.  After seeing Tuffy Stone's (an Aussie with a 22 Simpson and the condiment rack who hashtagged #weberkettleclub on Instagram) photo with this combination I just loved it.  Perfect.  I'm debating weather to try to smoke the two Rib Roasts I picked up yesterday for Thanksgiving on the new Simpson's grill.  Not sure if i can get them both on.  I know it would be easier to use the WSM but it would be fun to break out the Simpson's 22 for the special day and my first cook on it.

Do you know how many times the Maverick has fallen?

@captjoe06- Your Maverick will only have to do the balancing act for a couple more days. After seeing the above picture, I couldn't make you wait till Monday for me to ship the condiment rack.  I boxed it and dropped it off this morning. You should receive it Saturday.

I may need them sooner than I planned. Picked up my pre-ordered fresh turkey this morning.  I requested a 18-20 lb bird and they gave me a 23+lb behemoth. Hoping the legs hold up when I drop this Condor on the rotisserie.

As said above, sometimes you just get lucky. Picked up this peg leg for $15 and these were inside.

The taco is necessary when your handle is plastic.  A wood handle doesn't need it.

I had a charcoal chimney with a wood handle.  I never needed a pot holder to pick it up.  Now my chimney has a plastic handle and I need protection.

Making wood handles for the current generation of weber chimneys could be a growth industry.  :)

Here is the sellers pic of my blue MT I picked up several months ago.

I read this topic and looked at the pic and found the condiment rack in the basement I forgot about.

Thanks!

@captjoe06 - Received the legs last night. Now to decide what kettle will be the recipient of the transplant.

@greenweb - I think I remember seeing that picture when you posted about picking that MT up.

Very non scientific heat test to show that your remote thermometers are in no danger with the condiment rack attachment

@hoosierkettle I'm not sure how you could mess em up.  Just poke em with a fork,  soften them in the microwave,  coat with canola/olive/Veggie oil,  coarse salt and cook them offset some ripping coals for 30-40 minutes
