Title: 18.5 WSM base with JJ lid for camping?
Post by: Mr.CPHo on August 28, 2016, 05:52:44 PM
I know the JJ is ideal for camping, but what about pairing an 18.5 WSM base with a JJ lid?  Anyone have any experience doing this?  The WSM's bowl is much deeper than the JJ's. I also like that there's three vents on the side to keep burning embers where they belong rather than one on the JJ's bottom.  I'm interested in doing low-n-slow cooks in a dutch oven while camping (think chili or similar dishes), as well as the obligatory burgers and dogs.

Any words of wisdom out there on this setup?

What are you using for a cooking grate?

Set the grate on top of the charcoal ring.
