Picked this one up for $20 off CL. The seller said they inherited it when they bought the house. It is in really nice shape with no fading of the black usually seen on the black MBH's this age. Must have been kept in a garage. Judging by the lid vent, I believe it is a 1978. Came with the period correct old cover. Not sure it is a Weber cover but sure looks 70ish. Love the black electrical tape on the bowl handle to try and insulate from the heat when moving. It will be a while before the legs, triangle and ash pan get restored. I have a few kettles ahead of it.

That, the condition of the kettle and minimal rust on the triangle led me to believe it spent most of its life in the garage. That is where the new home buyers found it, in the garage with a cover over it. It was cooked on a lot because all the bowl vent wheels are frozen with grease. But that is a job for another day.
Handles look excellent too. Very nice

Wow, that's one clean kettle. Congrats.
That cover definitely looks like an old Weber cover. This is an old one in the packaging that is the same blue color with red piping:

She's a beaut! And in the 4th image from the top, you can really see the lovely "orange peel" finish that's characteristic of that timeframe. I didn't even know that existed until a fellow SF Grill Hunter mentioned it earlier today. Nice score; you're getting quite the collection

I really want to stage my kettles for a "family photo". I need to stop looking at CL for that to happen.
That wood handle is (if I may be so feminine) Gorgeous!!
That is a very nice score. Congrats on the pickup

Nice find. Love the orange peel and the nice looking handle. Black hardly looks faded either. I will give you $30 for it.

Nice score, love the black MBH.
Great deal and a Beautiful Black!
@Neil_VT00 - Thank you for posting that picture of your vintage Weber cover NIB. That does lead me to believe the one that came with this kettle is indeed a Weber product.
Really nice, she cleaned up beautifully!
