Title: 1993 Weber Performer storage bin
Post by: Dan B on June 24, 2016, 01:44:55 PM
When I bought this grill, the charcoal storage bin was missing. I also don't plan on using the gas charcoal starter either. So I decided to make a storage bin to replace the missing charcoal bin. It is slightly irregular because I had to frame around the metal tab for the igniter that was on the grill.  I use 5/8 angle iron to support it and raise the frame of the bin into the stainless steel cover so water will not get in, in case the cover is off the grill.  The box is made from treated plywood.  The depth was determined by the size of the piece of plywood that I had. I plan to paint it black to match the grill.

That's pretty sweet.

Did you get rid of the gas assist?

This looks good.  I'd like to replace my bin with this and store my charcoal in some kind of container under.

What do you use now?

I currently just keep the charcoal in the garage.
