Yeah, a blue kettle would be nice. I plan on putting my red into service this weekend.
Now that looks awesome Dude! You needed that Redhead!

I didn't have a favorite color until I found the WKC.
Thanks guys. Didn't expect that much of a color change. Damn near maroon when hot.

That's the best part!
I've almost gotten to the point where I don't want to use a kettle that doesn't change color
Ok I'llbite. What all colors change colors?
I'll take notes on the crimson performer next time I light up and get back to you. I don't recall any change though.
I picked up a 1996 ER blue yesterday off of Craigslist.

@DonoBBQ It's primarily the the older style reds and yellows that change. They get darker when they get hot. limes change a little, but not as dramatic as the Reds and yellows. Im not sure about any of the more modern colors, others might chime in with others that I left out.
the old dark green and (not so old) blue wave darken with heat as well. lemongrass gets "greener" with heat.
Does the color change happen with charcoal baskets, or only with coals directly against the bowl?
I've only burnt off the cooties so far. No baskets, but I was careful not to have coals touching the porcelain.
I love the color change, I always point it out to my wife. It is pretty cool.
