Title: Thrift Store Grey
Post by: mwmac on April 17, 2016, 08:36:11 AM
Drove past a local thrift store Friday and spotted a grey N code daisy wheel just as employees were locking up for the day.  No price tag but the condition appeared nearly new with the exception of the handles.  Picked it up Saturday for $15!  It is missing the ash catcher, has a narrow chip smaller than a match head and the whitewalls are gone.  There is no rust anywhere.  I will post pics to show before and after cleaning.

Very nice...well worth 15 bucks there. Congrats. Got to love a 3 wheeler for low and slow.

Killer find, and a daisy wheeler to boot! (My personal favorite venting system)

Awesome pickup!  As previously mentioned, three wheelers are awesome for really fine tuning your temps for slow and low.  I usually shut two vents down all the way they control with one.  I can't wait to see the after pics!

Here are some pics after a light cleaning.  Still need to finish bowl scrub and legs and put some spar varnish on the handles.  Now on the lookout for an ash catcher to complete the restoration.

That gray is fantastic. It cleaned up beatifully. I had one in an SS performer that was in really bad shape but it was still really cool.

Amazeballs.

My thrift stores all have used-up electric appliances, RJ-11 phone cords and bunch more memories of the 1980s. Not even a plain jane OTS black kettle ever.

Really good that a grill fella found that beauty and brought her into the family.   Fine looking kettle, Congrat's.                         SJ

That grey 3-wheeler would blend in nicely with my herd.

Nice pick up on a well preserved kettle.

Nice work on the cleanup! That shade of grey is pretty sweet and coupled with the fact that it's a three wheeler makes me love it even more! Congrats on the pickup.
