Dear BBQ chefs:
I am new to the forum and I am so excited in getting ready to launch my first KickStarter project – The Sizzle Monster™! I enjoy creating products as well as cooking, and this time it is a charcoal BBQ accessory!
The Sizzle Monster™ kit is a charcoal holder that holds a large amount of charcoal to generate a high searing temperature for steakhouse level results and a cast iron heat diffuser to turn your entire grill surface into a non-direct heat cooking zone when you have lots of food to cook and a ton of hungry people. We are going live on KickStarter on 3/17 (St. Patrick's Day), and we are welcoming your great support to enable more BBQ lovers to enhance the taste of their food and fully utilize their grills! Please feel free to forward to your colleagues, friends and family who also enjoy great BBQ experiences! Happy cooking, eating and sharing!

PS: My son Derek and I have enjoyed very much in making this video together; completely home brewed in our backyard so we can pass on the savings to our supporters!
Interesting invention. I did not see mention of a patent on your site. If you have not done so already, you need to immediately go get a provisional utility patent going. People will knock your product off before you can get to market otherwise.
@ABCbarbecue Pretty cool that a potential competitor is offering friendly suggestions. Much respect for you.
Thanks for your kindness, yes, it was filed a few months ago. Thanks.
Is this something you would be willing to ship to canada?
I mentioned the Patent Pending in the product video that I will be launching on 3/17, and now it is updated on my website! Thanks again. I welcome distributors! :-)
@ Silver: Thanks for your interest, currently we only got the shipping cost for US shipping and when we launch on Kickstarter I will only have US shipping. If you get enough interest, I may be able to ship a few units to Canada but the shipping cost may be more. Thanks.
I really like that heat diffuser idea shown at the end.
Looks pretty cool.
What kind of temperatures are you getting with the diffuser plate on?
Looks like an interesting product!
What is the ring made out of it?
I've noticed the stamped baskets from weber tend to last about 3 years (depending on use and abuse)
I'm impressed.

Between Weber grills and this forum, I'm headed for the poor house! lol

It gets up above 1100F, so super hot. Restaurants uses 1000F + so that was my bar. I will have more data on the Kickstarter. Thanks.
I either need to buy one of these, or name one of my kettles "Sizzle Monster."
"Yeah, I gotta go out back and feed the Sizzle Monster. If I'm not back by sunup, call the President."
The one HUGE advantage the Slow N Sear has over the sizzlemonster is the water reservoir which I think is a key aspect in keeping your meat from drying out during a slow cook. I think both inventions are wonderful, but no need to own both in my opinion.

Hi AZ: sorry I answered incorrectly, 1100F is without the diffuser plate :-), with the plate, I get 360-400F for about 1 hour, which is great for indirect heat cooking.

Hi Troy:
It is also the stamped steel, but we use the thicker gauge metal, so hope it will last longer. I didn't know there are so many serious bad ass cooks out there till I start to join the forum!
@ Jon: When I launch Kickstart tomorrow, you may want to check out our hat to match your new pet Sizzle Monster :-)
From the perspective of someone who just started using a cast iron skillet on the grill for reverse sears, as I posted earlier, I'm really impressed. If I already had the gourmet grate I'd probably be next in line. Sounds like a great concept.

I guess will this work well with the "STOK grill insert system" also...

Hi Metal Mike:
As long as you have 4.5" tall space between your top grate and bottom grate, Sizzle Monster will work!

Looks interesting, at $25+ shipping I decided to give it a go.
I would think 1000 degrees would discolor the
Kettle and warp the racks
Hi Lemans:
The Melting temp for steel is at 2750F, so we are far away so nothing to worry about, one thing for sure, it kills any bacteria directly above the sizzle Monster :-)
We are live on KickStarter, please feel free to visit: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/682470691/sizzle-monsterize-your-charcoal-grill

I've got a Slow N Sear, two Vortex and I just backed this. I agree there are similar uses for all of these, but in the end I'm a sucker for gadgets. :)
I use a vortex-like charcoal basket on a STOK Charcoal Drum (http://northeastbbq.com/2016/03/03/searing-ribeye-steak-using-the-charcoal-basket-on-the-stokgrills-charcoal-drum-to-create-a-vortex-like-heat-source/) so I wasn't interested in duplicating the functionality but after seeing the video and the pricing which seems very very reasonable, I'm considering it. So often you see KickStarter projects that are outrageous in what they give back, not in this case.
