@ramsfan for the heads up in the Online Finds section. I returned from vacation to find ramsfan's post about a brand new Ranch just a couple of hours south of me in Bowling Green, KY. I had gone way over budget on the vacation, so I resigned myself to the notion that I'd have to let a golden opportunity pass on by. The next evening (Tuesday), I said "OH HELL NO" and called the seller leaving a voicemail and also emailed him. The next morning (Wednesday), he called me back.
As the ad stated, the Ranch was brand new and seller was asking $450. I asked if he would take any less. He replied with "Umm, are you familiar with the grill I'm selling ?" I chuckled and said "Oh yeah, most definitely. I went on to say that it was a great price (more than fair) and that if he was here in Louisville, I'd have already been at his front door. But, with time and gas, I'd have to pass at his asking price.
He followed up in reply saying "How about $375?" I answered with, "SOLD, I can be there in about 3 hours"
Turns out that day didn't work into his schedule. Ended up arranging to me on Friday (today) around Noon. He promised that it was mine no matter what.
So, I hopped in the van this morning and made my way South. Met the seller at his house and shot the breeze with him a bit. He's not into grilling at all that I could make out. He picked up the Ranch on an auction site with the hopes of flipping it. He seemed to get a kick out of how stoked I was over getting the Ranch. We got her loaded up in my van and I headed out towards home.

@ramsfan, sorry for not responding to your reply PM about the light. Might sound strange, but at that point I had some strange thought that further discussion about the Ranch might jinx the deal or something. Crazy stuff for sure, but I was on edge from Wednesday til this morning.

Funny that you mention where to put it. Before going to pick it up, I already started the process of moving some other grills out just to make space. :D

Congrats! That is a great deal! Did the seller tell you what auction site he bought it on? It must have been a smaller local site that he got an awesome deal on. Just think of what he got it for if his first ASK was $450 and he sold it for $375.

Congrat Sir, you're gonna love it. The beast is a workhorse. I've done 14 tritips at one time, 6 Racks of Ribs, 8 pork butts, 2 seven bone Prime Ribs. It's just sick what this beast is capable of. Welcome to RK club.

Thanks everyone !!! Am definitely looking forward to cooking on it !! That will have to wait just a bit though as the seller made one small mistake when assembling the grill. The lid support arm is on backwards so the hook is on the wrong side. Looks like I just need to destroy one of the hubcaps trying to remove it, slide the axle out, turn the support arm around and get a new cap to secure everything back in place. I can live with a "first world problem" like that ;D

Thanks Mike! I'm very happy with the deal, but I think Firedude's free Mothership definitely beats it out for deal of the year!. And yeah, I definitely would have regretted it. It's why I changed my mind and grabbed it ;D

BTW, this RK is already becoming a money pit. Went to the local hardware store to get new hubcaps and they charged me $0.70 for two of them! What the heck, a small price to pay to have the RK assembled correctly !! ;D ;D ;D ;D
