Title: Unknown BBQ Hinge
Post by: Tommy B on February 09, 2016, 10:05:18 AM
Has anyone installed on of these on an 18 WSM? I got one for Christmas and haven't gotten around to installing yet. I am thinking about adding another handle to the front of the lid like the 22 would be very helpful in operating the hinge. Any thoughts?

I want one for my 22. Would help out a lot instead of putting it on the ground.

As you can see, my covers still fit on both of mine with the lid hinges. You could add a handle to the front of your 18 but I just open it to the side as in the second photo. I can open either with one hand, and it will stay open if you open it all the way. I'm not that handy and didn't have any issues installing them.

@kettlecook I like the idea of putting the hinge on the side. My whole thought process for wanting the hinge was because I hate putting the lid on the ground... I don't want to burn grass or get grease on concrete. I also don't want to chip porcelain on concrete. I was thinking put another handle on the front of bowl so it is easier to lift up but if I put hinge on side I can prob operate just as easy.

Works for me. I did it with the side handle in front for my big wsm, of course.
