Title: Surf 'n' Turf - I think
Post by: MacEggs on December 06, 2015, 07:19:27 AM
Does steak and scallops qualify .... ??

Ole Man Winter is taking his sweet time arriving here in the GWN.  Sunny this weekend, and highs of about 10℃ (50℉).  8)

I decided to haul up from the basement one of my hibernating kettles (http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/weber-kettles-accessories/weber-grills-have-a-foot-print-how-do-you-store-them/msg192900/#msg192900) .... The 20 year old red 22 OTG.

I fired up a full chimney of re-used lump using pube cubes (http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/grilling-bbqing/made-some-pube-cubes-today/msg196962/#msg196962) that I had made earlier in the day.
I find that re-used lump takes much longer to light as compared to fresh-out-of-the-bag lump.  Also seems to not get as hot once in the kettle.
Regardless, I am a charcoal miser, so I will continue to do this.

I am finishing up some striploins that have been in the freezer for nearly a year (http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/grilling-bbqing/making-your-dollar-go-further-striploin-steaks/).  One remaining.
These were 17oz each.

Some fresh scallops.  Light coating of EVOO plus S&P.  Total of about 5 minutes on the grill.

Back resting in the garage.  This kettle is gorgeous.  It was my very first Weber kettle rescue.
It started life as a One-Touch.  I converted it this past spring to a Gold.

We skipped the starch for this meal.  Just a salad and protein.
The steak turned out medium - nice and pink throughout.  The scallops melted in my mouth.  :D

Scallops count as seafood forsure......but steaks frozen a year.....you gotta eat more beef Mac. I like hauling special Kettles out of the basement too.

Very Nice

My kind of meal.. When it comes to seafood, IMHO few things are higher on the list..
King crab, Chilean White Seabass, then scallops..

King crab and white sea bass are great on there own.. If you add steak to the mix,, scallops might be #1 in my opinion..

Very hard to beat..Especially if you can get them fresh.. Living near San Diego, there are some awesome places to buy seafood.

Anyone looking for tips on cooking seafood..
Youtube seach.. Tommy Gomes.. catalina offshore products..
Its where i shop, and I thatt dude can cook.. He has posted a ton of recipes on youtube..i have learned alot from him

Thanks for looking, everyone!

For Sunday's supper, I kept with the theme of steak and seafood / fish .... Grilled up a couple 15oz salmon steaks ...
